Guest n99 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Hello My SF is about 11 months old and has developed a fault. Orange said that my phone was covered by them for 9 months and the remaining 3 months are covered by ZTE. ZTE warranty involves sending the phone to a company for an assessment and repair, under warranty if deemed fitting. I just wanted to check if this fits with other peoples experiences and has anyone experience of getting a replacement from Orange during the last 3 months? Many thanks n
Guest cmberry20 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 No, you can get it replaced by Orange. The phone is sold an 'Orange manufactured phone' & the warrenty is covered by Orange. My phone was over 10 months old when it developed a fault. I phoned Orange about 5 times, they gave me loads of excuses & numbers I should ring, it was a real pain in the ass - but on the fifth time I got through to this bloke who straight away said I would get a replacement phone. Got it the next day!
Guest n99 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 thanks for that. I also looked at my Orange SF manual which says that orange have a 12 month warranty! Spoke to some else and explained what I was initially told. Now expecting a replacement tomorrow! Not sure what happened first time. Odd. cheers
Guest doogsville Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 A lot of companies will try on the 'you have to send it back to the manufacturer' routine. It's crap, don't put up with it. You bought your phone from Orange, they bought the phone from ZTE, not you. Tell them exactly that." I bought the phone from you, not ZTE, you are obliged by law to honour the guarantee, and if you don't, I'll report you to trading standards". That usually does the trick. I know this because I used to work in a computer shop where the owner always tried to tell people they had to send stuff back to the manufacturer, and trading standards eventually gave him a visit to remind him it was his responsibility and if he did it again they would take him to court. He stopped after that.
Guest deadonthestairs Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 What if the phone was bought from a 3rd party website? I bought my OSF from prepaywizard.co.uk - I contacted them to arrange for a replacement after my loudspeaker stopped working. They said their warranty was 6 months, and I'd need to contact the manufacturer. I got in touch with Orange and they said as it wasn't bought from them directly I'd have to pay for the repair. Is this right?
Guest 2smart4class Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 i just phoned orange today and after being given the run about, i called again and again eventually got put through their faults department and they said they will replace the phone tomorrow and provided me with a delivery slot to collect the phone and give me a replacement phone. I just thought ill share my experience, don't take no for an answer they will try everything to get you to give up. Anyway else have a similar experience???
Guest eaglehay42 Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Bought the phone and immediately unlocked it to use giffgaff. Had the phone about 4 months and the touch screen digitizer has a fault which means I cant see anything but a small white dash on the screen. Will they replace even though I have never used the orange network since having the phone?
Guest doogsville Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) Your warranty is with whoever you bought the phone from, period. Anyone who tells you any different either doesnt know the law or they are are lying. You didnt buy the phone from ZTE, why would you send it back to them, and if you did they would'nt be obliged to replace or repair it, becuase you didn't buy it from them. same with Orange, if you didnt buy it fromthem, why should they repair it for free? If anyone tries to fob you off with the send it back to the manufacturer crap, just tell them you are going to report them to trading standards, and then do just that. In the UK you have a standard one year warranty with the SELLER. Edited October 13, 2011 by doogsville
