Guest ManMetDeHamer Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 As the topic title describes, im wondering if its possible to have the phone switch to 2g only when screen goes off. And go back to 3g prefered when it comes back on. Anyone knows it this is possible?
Guest Maringer Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) If you're using CM7, you can install an app which is aptly called, "Toggle2G". This automatically switches to 2G with the screen off (with various settings for keeping 3G open in certain circumstances). You'll find the APK for this on XDA. (Edit: Also available as a ZIP flashable with CWM) Very useful little app which improves battery life considerably on the SF. Edited October 7, 2011 by Maringer

Guest hugobosslives Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 i do it with tasker. you can also do it so that it only switches back to 3g when you unlock the phone not just when you turn screen. so if you just check to see if you have texts or the time it doesn't waste battery changing the radio mode

Guest hugobosslives Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 are you good with tasker? i dont mind explaining if you know your way around as it wont take long. but if your not used to the UI in tasker (which is very unhelpful to beginners) it would take tages.......
Guest ManMetDeHamer Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) Im still kinda a noob in tasker. But i think the 2g toggle app will be good enough for me at the moment. Edited October 7, 2011 by ManMetDeHamer
