Unable to get to CWM on Vegacomb 3.2

I'm trying to get update 3 onto my Vegacomb, but for some reason when selecting Recovery (via power button option), it just reboots the machine as opposed to launching CWM.

Is there another way to get update 3 on my Advent Vega tablet? Any ideas why Recovery isnt working as it should?

I've put a post on the specific Vegacomb thread, but bringing it to a specific thread here to bring to the attention of others who may be able to help.

Thanks in advance.

The issue is detailed in the installation instructions. I could just give you the answer but you might find something else useful if you read then ;)

(Just power off and on again, CWM will start)

Hi Sach1

Got your PM but figured I'd reply here so that others may benefit.

There are 2 recovery modes on the Vega. It can be confusing. Instead, let's call them "flash mode" and "CWM" (Clockworkmod).

Flash mode is reached via the button press procedure (back for 2 seconds, then power+back for 2 seconds and so on). It is ONLY used for completely wiping your Vega and installing a new ROM.

CWM is Clockworkmod and can only be reached from a fully booted Vega. There is NO key combination to get into CWM.

To get to CWM from Vegacomb, hold the power button until the menu appears and select recovery. Your Vega will reboot but will hang. Power it off, then power on again. It will go to CWM. This is a known issue with Vegacomb - see here:

http://tabletroms.com/forums/vega-rom-development/1923-%5Brom%5D-%5B3-2%5D-vegacomb-3-2-build-9n-update-3-a.html

If you are trying to get into flash mode and the backlight is coming on, power off and try again varying the timing. If the backlight comes on, you've missed it. Loads of threads with various tips to getting there but in essence, watch device manager (it's the only way to tell if you're not experienced because you will see NOTHING on the Vega) and try, try and try again. If you can't get the flash mode drivers installed on Windows, search for YAUDIG and AUDI.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I understand the 2 different modes, I'm trying to access cwm but every time I reboot into recovery, the machine just reboots as if I had done a restart, no hang at all. It sounds like I have a different issue to what you're explaining...

Any ideas? Thanks

Ah, OK. Sorry.

Could be a borked flash. Search for clockworkmod easy installer and use that to reinstall CWM. I haven't tried this with Vegacomb but AFAIK the recovery partition size hasn't changed. Worse that can happen is a failed flash which leaves you where you are!
