Guest Uppy Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 Ok so yesterday my phone crashed and restarted itself, it got to the cyanogen mod boot animation then booted again, it never got past the boot animation so after several attempts I decided to hard reset. Everything is ok now, or seems to be. However certain apps now do not work correctly. My IGN app for example will load a list of resent stories but when I press one the phone simply opens my browser and loads the mobile site. The same with the official hotmail app, now it behaves like a link to the mobile site. Has this ever happened to anyone else? And if so how did you fix it? It's a small problem at the minute but I worry it may be caused by a nope serious underlying problem.
Guest Uppy Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 More* lol Also sorry for double posting.
Guest t0mm13b Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) Have you wiped cache/data from ClockworkMod? :) BTW try taking the sd card out and see what happens? Edited October 9, 2011 by t0mm13b
Guest Uppy Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 I don't know how to do that, could you tell me? And I have tried taking the card out.

What gen phone do you have - look for Mr. Pigfish on the market and install that, it will tell you if you have Gen1 or Gen2. /me sighs Just noticed wbaw removed the instructions for upgrading via TPT....
Guest Uppy Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 Yes I have clockwork recovery. It was Gen1 but is now Gen2. I went to clockwork recovery and chose clear cache but the problem remains :-/
Guest t0mm13b Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Bump. Please help? Anyone? What ROM are you using? Might be worth to try CM7.1 :) (Wipe cache, and wipe data from CWM prior to flashing CM7.1 and take it from there)
Guest Uppy Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 I just did a hard reset again to see if that would fix the problem bit it didn't. I am running cyanogenmod 7 10092011 nightly build. Please help?
Guest Uppy Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 How do I wipe data and cache using clockwork recovery?
Guest t0mm13b Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 To use the Clockwork Recovery, but first a CS101: Use Volume +/- keys to navigate the menuHome key is to confirm the selection of highlighted menu option.Back key is to go back a level in the menu, depending on where you are. Now, there's two options on the menu, Wipe Data and Wipe cache. Navigate to the option, hit home key, then a menu appears with a number of 'No's, navigate down to get the 'Yes', hit home key and you're done. Do the same for the wipe cache/factory reset. :)
Guest Uppy Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) Ok I did that and put 7.1 on but still it launches the browser when I select a story on ign. And windows live mail app. What the heck? I'm worried my phone is fried. Edited October 13, 2011 by Uppy

Care to elaborate what is that app for the benefit for others who would like to help! :)
Guest Uppy Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 IGN is a website with games news. The app shows the stories in a list. When you press a link it should open the story in the app but after my infinite boot loop and subsequent hard reset, pressing a link now launches my browser and loads the story there. This also now happens with the official windows live mail app. It may sound petty but I worry that with the crash and now this odd bug that there may be an underlying problem.

That is normal usual thing to do, any web linkys, it launches the browser. No underlying problem nor a bug either. :)
Guest Uppy Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) It is a bug it should launch the story in the app it always has done before. Also simply launching the official windows live mail app instantly opens the browser and the mobile site. This is NOT normal behaviour for these apps. My apologies for not making my problem clearer :-) Allow me to try again. Since my phone refused to boot a few days ago I had to hard reset my phone. Since then these two apps launch the browser when they shouldn't. The mail app doesn't even try to load its UI nor does it display anything. It used to display the emails from within its own application window but it now launches the browser. Likewise my IGN app used to load news stories in it's own application window but only since the crash it has just launched the browser instead. Edited October 13, 2011 by Uppy
Guest Uppy Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Ok just read the app reviews on the market and it's a problem with the apps not my phone! Lol! Thank you.
