Installing ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager 0.36b issues

I own a Generation 1 Orange San Francisco, and am attempting to install the Recovery Manager with view to ultimately install a de-skinned Android 2.2 or 2.3 custom ROM. I have tried other guides on other websites, but have never been able either to install or open Recovery manager. I am currently following the '22/May [GUIDE] How to Install a Custom ROM on the ZTE Blade [GEN1] Superuser / Clockwork / ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager / TPT' guide, and, when downloading the 0.37 version -0.36 does not seem to be available- from the link on my device, the download gets to 53% before failing, with a notice saying that the 'content is not supported on your phone'. I have been attempting to solve this problem for a while now, with no success. If anyone can offer me any advice, I would be most grateful.
