Cracked screen (DIY JOB Advice)

Hey guys, so my phone jumped out of my pocket as I was closing my car door and got wedged, resulting in a nice big cracked screen.

The actual LCD screen is untouched and the phone still functions as it should, so rather then wait for replacement screens to publicly appear or send my phone to some company in return for my money, I think I might try and do a DIY job

The glass looks like it can easily be removed so I was thinking of maybe finding some sort of suitable plastic, cutting it to size and voilĂ ....anyone think this will work? all sugestions welcomed

Thanks

Isn't that the digitizer ?

i believe it is, just did a search and thats the bit responisble for all the touch mapping stuff....not merely a glass screen.....guess my idea wont work then :(

its glass

I knew it was glass, it's just SO SO obvious! I even started a thread, stating that I was convinced it was... and now, you can all see that it IS glass!

Plastic schmastic! People are clueless.

Did it fall out of you pocket on to the floor or somehow got wedged in the closing door...did you slam the door shut with the skat in between...?

you could strengthen it with a tiny smear of super glue...are you sure it's glass, it could be hard plastic

looks & feels plastic to me... would be very surprised if it is glass

Take it to Gavin from autoglass. I'm sure he can inject some of his special resin to fix it.

Spoke to a guy at autoglass and he's coming to fix it while im at work, and its covered under my car insurance B)

id say its definately glass as shards are coming off, when shard is crushed it turns to white dust and is very brittle......I havnt got any pics of mine but it looks extactly like this iphone....

Yep... that's glass!

How I laugh, when I think back to all those YouTube reviewers & members on here, who insisted it was plastic, when it's SO obviously glass, by the feel alone.

Might be gorilla glass, had mine a while now, I'm a little careless, dropped, in pockets with keys and coins, face down more often than not, and not a scratch.

Funny how you don't notice something until someone else mentions it.

Try seeing what happens if you put a bit of Armour Etch on it.

That will prove one way or the other 100%

Not sure I really want to scratch it to find out!

I meant more for the person who already has the broken screen to try.

Better to prove stuff without a doubt than still conjecture.

Does anyone know if the Digitizers will be available for the Skate anytime soon? Their out for other ZTE models dead cheap on Ebay so would love for one to appear.

How have you solved this problem?

My screen cracked yesterday, but the touchscreen works perfectly.

Can be found a glass screen for this model?
