Guest bluesmanuk Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) My other half has a ZTE Blade Gen1 running 2.2 and for reasons which are only really known to her, she absolutely detests the Green Android Logo that come on immediately upon switching the phone on. So the Mission Impossible task that I have accepted, on pain of being self destructed within 5 days is to change the colour of the droid. Does anybody know if this logo is a simple graphic file that can be thrown into Photoshop for a colour change and then simply placed back into the phone or am I in for something more challenging? Guest t0mm13b Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 If my memory serves correct, that splash image, depending on the handset, and that you have upgraded to Gen2 via TPT and that the 'splash' partition is present, then... This can be changed by flashing an image into that partition. Head over here to this guide on how to do it. Do not do it if you don't have a 'splash' partition... :)
Guest unrandomsam Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 I think its easier if you do it via fastboot (Otherwise you have to pad the image somehow).
Guest bluesmanuk Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 Thanks for the advice guys. I'm trying initially to use flashboot but just getting a waiting for device to connect message. Have updated the drivers for Win 7 but as of yet cannot find a way for flashboot to connect to the Blade.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 You got the thread right, I'd recommend doing it with the zip file method. However, I think if you are on clockwork 5.x then you must also add a custom bootanimation or it wont work (either that or edit the update script)
Guest hugobosslives Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) wbaw is the man to ask about this, as he did a bit of work on the splash image when making his gen2 upgrade tpts. you can do it by fastboot. defo the easiest way. Just make sure you don't make the replacement file too big as the partition is tiny. EDIT: btw i don't mean pm wbaw as i'm sure he h8s getting personal pms (as i do) just see if he answers this Edited October 12, 2011 by hugobosslives
Guest nrev Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 wbaw is the man to ask about this... According to his profile he appears to have been banned from modaco. I don't know what happened, why, etc., but it is a pity he won't be around any more.
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 I've done this a few times, here is what I think is the easiest way: Download this file to flash your boot image: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=71119 (from that guide linked above)simply delete the bootanimation.zip so it doesn't flash the animated partreplace splash.bmp with your new splash image To make a splash image that works properly (particularly correct colour), It needs to be saved with the right settings It must be saved as a bitmap (.bmp)It must be 800x480 pixelsDepending on your firmware, it might need to be upside down.It must be in the RGB565 Colour space (16 bit colour, but there are different 16 bit colour formats out there aswell) e.g. in photoshop, save your image as bmp, and in the dialog that appears after the save as dialog click advanced modes and select R5 G6 B5 It is possible to rename such a file to splash.img and flash it directly via fastboot or as part of a TPT. No padding is required.
Guest ZTE_Blade Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Easiest way is to use this guys app:
Guest Rusty! Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 fastboot flash splash splash.img Dead easy, did it last night.
Guest adizz Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) Is there anyway to remove the splash partition? Sent from my Blade using Tapatalk Edited October 16, 2011 by adizz
