Guest aweAMsome Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 You make a valid point - Dell do seem to have been seriously lacking in their development team for the Streak... They could certainly use some help! Brian Right you are Brian.:D
Guest nickshertzer Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Finally got my replacement LCD+Glass today and fixed my broken screen! In regards to the CRT animation... I received this information from maxicet. The trick to getting the electron beam screen off animation to work properly is to edit the build.prop to enable rendering on the GPU. Change this line from: "debug.composition.type=mdp" to: "debug.composition.type=gpu" Use root explorer in R/W, save and exit, and reboot. I read through the 52 previous pages in the thread and hadn't seen this mentioned yet. CRT animation working fine over here. Using 2.4.3-tun ROM.
Guest florin0904 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) Yeap it's working great, thanks nickshertzer. But why Dj_Steve din't activate the electron beam screen off animation. Maybe something is not right. Edited October 31, 2011 by florin0904

Guest Stephen Hyde Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 i didnt see any perf gain from gpu render hence not enabling it but looks like i will be for next ver
Guest Azurren Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) It's been discontinued by Dell. In the USA.. Contrary to popular believe the US is not the world :P Edited October 31, 2011 by Azurren
Guest nystreak Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 reflashing the rom without wiping anything will restore it.. Along with anything else you previously deleted :P Or you could just extract the email apk from system/app and manually move it to your system/app directory on your phone using an app like total commander :) Its quite easy to do but I can't give you a step-by-step as there are so many variables here Thank you. I did a fresh reinstall and all my fc probs (including twitter) seem to have been cured. Im getting the feeling factory reseting between flashs even on these incremental updates is necassary. Still having some flash 11 issues with the stock browser though. Prob get worked out in 2.4.4. Thanks again .
Guest JOBooth Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I'm rockin' 2.4.4-1 and am lovin it. No more flash problems. I'm still getting the random no wifi (connected, but no traffic) problem. Best ROM yet, Steve & Fards!

Guest Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) If you want to build Ice Cream Sandwich from AOSP(Android Open Source Project), these are the preliminary numbers that you should be looking at, 6GB of download. 25GB disk space to do a single build. 80GB disk space to build all AOSP configs at the same time. 16GB RAM recommended, more preferred, anything less will measurably benefit from using an SSD. 5+ hours of CPU time for a single build, 25+ minutes of wall time, as measured on a workstation (dual-E5620 i.e. 2x quad-core 2.4GHz HT, with 24GB of RAM, no SSD). Source yes and much as i HATE actually asking for donations im going to need a fair few of them to help get some upgrades done to my build server ready for the ICS release Edited October 31, 2011 by Guest
Guest cdzo72 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Ok, so with this build my wifi no traffic issues have gone away (dunno if it was something on my end or the ROM)... no problems with flash either... I had to flash and reset a couple of times to get 3G connectivity though, dunno is anyone experienced this also... Minor thing also, I didn't have touch sounds when I press any keys or selected anything... I remember having it on 2.4.3 I'm pretty sure.ç Great work Stephen, headed to first page now to throw a bone your way... I saw on Twitter you were working on your server....
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 yea i know the 'recommended' specs for ics compile lol, but my build server is currently: intel Q8200 4gb ram 1x500gb hdd 1x2tb hdd so cpu will be fine but i need to seriously up the ram which means replacing mainboard too as current one maxes out at 8gb
Guest nystreak Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) no one else is getting fc's with stock email app. i did a fresh install today of 2.4.3 and thought i had it licked but they're back. im getting the messeges but it seems to fc trying to notify me. Guest Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I just posted so everybody can see that build from source need serious hardware. i know you know, i follow you on tweeter. yea i know the 'recommended' specs for ics compile lol, but my build server is currently: intel Q8200 4gb ram 1x500gb hdd 1x2tb hdd so cpu will be fine but i need to seriously up the ram which means replacing mainboard too as current one maxes out at 8gb
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 :) well my server host just replied with rough pricing for upgrading mainboard and ram which comes to a quite sane $130 in total for new mainboard and 16gb ram:D
Guest streak5 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I would love to test the new beta. Please PM me if the beta's still open. Thanks in advance.

Guest Azurren Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 :) well my server host just replied with rough pricing for upgrading mainboard and ram which comes to a quite sane $130 in total for new mainboard and 16gb ram:D That's extremely reasonable :o Quick questions: Will the Streak 5 ever be able to run ICS (With drivers etc.)? Can't you just use a 16GB pagefile? (SSD) Slow, yes
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 I already run 68gb swap file. But id rather not end up waitin 12+ hours for compile . And if i ever get alsa to play yes ics may work
Guest coronet Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Love the new font choice in this latest build, seems like things are a bit zippier in it, too. One request though: it it possible to move the clock back to the right instead of the center? Seems out of place in Android. Or at least a build option?
