Guest alert_bri Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) Stop trolling! That's funny. I take it you have nothing constructive to add to the discussion? Seriously, I am curious as to why anyone would need an easily accessible reboot option? If that question is offensive in any way to anyone here, I would like to know why? Guest (InsertNameHere) Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Check out what Steve added to his soon to be released rom. I like that, very useful addition

Seriously, I am curious as to why anyone would need an easily accessible reboot option? If that question is offensive in any way to anyone here, I would like to know why? Brian Seriously, with a question like that you shouldn't even have a smartphone, you need one of those little bricks that just works for calls and text. But for those of us that like to play with our phones, everytime we install or uninstall a program or set of programs, the phone needs to be powered off completely or rebooted to see what changes have taken affect. During this stage where we are testing beta ROMs daily for the benefit of those such as yourself, I may reboot my phone 50 times in a day... So yeah, your question is offensive in it's ignorance. Asking why we need a reboot option is like asking why a car needs a lever to open the hood. On another note I don't mind at all having say a BETA testing thread, but I think we all that test for Stephen are fully conscious as to how busy the young man is and thus keep out comments here in HIS thread so HE doesn't have to look anywhere else for issues he may want to do us the favor of resolving, but if he is OK with it, then it may not be a bad idea to keep this thread tidied up a little. But there is one problem, the speed at which he's been releasing betas, 4 in one week, 4 new threads doesn't make much sense either... it's up to you guys

Brian Well may be Steve thought all of the guyz in here are advanced users so he added a reboot softbutton. coz advanced users alwayz do something and f**kz up the OS n has to either wipe cache or oder stuff u know. He forgot U R also here and thought everyone was an advanced user...

Well, if advanced user=pompous arse, than I'm quite happy to remain a student If I had to reset my phone everytime I installed or uninstalled an app, then I'd see the point in an easily accessible reboot option. But I guess that's just a bit too advanced to grasp for some On the other hand, if I was doing anything to require 50 reboots in a day, I would certainly appreciate the option... so it's obviously useful for someone! Guest hacktor Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 It's also quite useful for people who want to reboot the phone due to a change they made in the build.prop. That's funny. Guest pompeyboyz Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Has anyone else experinced this? Installed 2.4.3 on Sunday with no issues. I noticed a heavy battery drain for some reason and was linking it to UberSocial and Doggcatcher that I had used. I was also getting occasional random reboots that I only notice through ATK being active. Thought nothing much. Today my streak went into reboot hyperdrive and rebooted 4-5 times on the ounce before settling down. After this I notices that the battery had drained heavily from about 70% to 50% in 2 hours or being dormant.

Thanks, yes it's certainly quicker and easier than cycling power. I just wondered whether I was missing anything dramatic Cheers Brian
Guest Coxeroni Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Btw, one suggestion for things easier to overlook: Why don't you separate this in serveral threads, something like: 1. Beta Bugs & Feedback 2. Final Bugs & Feedback 3. Random chit-chat and questions about sd 2.4 I know this would require heavy moderation, but in this way things would be better separated. Just a suggestion.
Guest waldoinc Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Got a question, is there a boot.img for the Gingerbread that supports the upgraded internal SD Card. Cause I am going to be upgrading soon, and needed to know wether to upgrade the internal or not yet.

Cause I am going to be upgrading soon, and needed to know wether to upgrade the internal or not yet. I changed my internal 2GB to a 4Gb class 10 by inserting it and simply doing a factory reset. I think that the factory reset sorts it all out for you. There is a complete article on XDA. Edited November 3, 2011 by Lloydie
Guest nalpt Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 I'm have trouble with Full Screen Caller ID on SD243: it installs well, starts up well enough, I can edit contacts, but I cant see any previews (in contact image) or settings screen. I also does not activate it when receiving or making calls. Anyone else has this issue or has any other solution? mthis worked fine in sd191. tks

As soon as you can unlock the device, turn on airplane mode - let everything run and start up (SetCPU, etc.) Turn off Airplane mode after about 20-30 seconds and you should be fine. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not. Unfortunately I can't, for the life of me, figure out where I went wrong in the install instructions to keep this from happening. Any suggestions? I wiped my device 3-4 times (Inside Andriod, from Dell screen AND Clockwork) before installing 2.4.3 and I still have this issue.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Overclocking and/or CPU Governors Needless to say turning off my "tiny" overlclock seems to have resolved all my issues. Not much of a performance drop either since my streak just can't overclock :P

Guest mellojoe Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 DEVS, Is there something you want us to do if we have random reboots? Is there some kind of log that I can pull for you to review? Is there some logging program that I should be running to help out? I had a couple more random reboots and I don't see a link between them currently. PS: Thanks for the "restart" option in the menu. :)

(Flash stock recovery, PKG, Boot, AMSS/DSP1, StreakMod, Flash rom, Clear Dalvik, Dell factory reset, boot)Are you overclocking?Have you recently installed any applications which may be causing issues? Even after coming from a complete reversal I get reboots after flashing the ROM for the first time and whenever I put the battery back into my phone. Always three. never more and never less. I also have been noticing something using about 50MB of RAM, even when I dont install any other apps other than stock. Seems to be an issue that started after the overclock was added
Guest Papi-jj Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 Has anyone got a reboot to the android logo after installing apps? This happen to 3 times so far with 2.4.4.3. During installation the phone freezes then reboots to Android logo.

There is an issue with the RAM though :S Has anyone got a reboot to the android logo after installing apps? This happen to 3 times so far with 2.4.4.3. Guest Charliest Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 I believe that enough of us are seeing random reboots or freezes to deduct that it is endemic to the rom. I do not believe it is a function of overclocking, since I do not overclock. I installed Setcpu with an "on demand" profile a couple of days ago to see if I could fix the freezes as well as the spontaneous wifi failures and had a freeze just yesterday. I may try the "conservative" setting as an experiment. If the problems are indeed procesor speed dependent even at stock speeds, I do not know what is next. Then again, I am a user, not a developer. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Overclocking and/or CPU Governors Needless to say turning off my "tiny" overlclock seems to have resolved all my issues. Guest Amalgation Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 Haven't seen any random reboots myself, and rocking 2.4.3 since release. Only had 2 sleeps of death after installing which both occured within 60 minutes after install. After that no more sleeps of death. The only annoyance I've come across is that the clock is running fast. Setting it manually or automatic doesn't matter, within a few hours it will be 15 minutes ahead. I've reported this to Steve, but am left wondering if anyone else has noticed this on their streak.

I've had the clock issue on 243, but a reflash seemed to fix it (been about 5 days since and the clock is properly set and running on manual)
