Guest talpenn Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) Remove the last section and enter URL http://wwwen.zte.com...data/mobile/UK/ from there it is possible to select the Blade and download the software. However, it is 13,9 MB in size so most likely not the whole thing (of course, I am no expert on the ROM part) Edit: only the software upgrade tool, should not include actual ROM Edited October 13, 2011 by talpenn
Guest KonstaT Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) Good find. I have no idea (or a way to test at the moment) will it install anything. It should be some kind of online updater tool. Online updater windows tool, I can only imagine how many things can go wrong with that. :D Mirrored here just in case: http://www.mediafire.com/?rmqvjx13o3qupvb Couple of interesting pages from the manual: Edited October 13, 2011 by KonstaT
Guest talpenn Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Well, as I understand, it allows to update a phone with a newer version of the existing ROM. Meaning, that if you have a UK operator device, it will search for newer version for the same operator. So, you need to load the phone in FTM mode (stock recovery needed) and probably also a stock ROM (as it should not be able to find eg. CM7 latest version from ZTE servers) :) If anyone cares to give it a go to check, if there is a newer version (perhaps 2.3.5 for the Blade) for eg. Orange SF units, feel free. My assumption would be that any non-stock ROM (eg.. CM7 or GSF) results in a "no update found" or "unknown version" error message.

Guest kmotala Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 I test it in my RBM ONE (ZTE BLADE) this updater download latest rom for phone. In my model is Android 2.2. Guest freebooter Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Reading the pdf in the download it is clear that it only updates to the latest version that is available for the original operator. So in the UK Orange is still selling them with 2.1 so that is all that will be available. It is a shame as I was hoping for a stock stable later version.
Guest KapTmaH Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/Portugal/ Sapo a5 Terminal software online upgrade tool(Optimus)(ZTE Corporation is the owner of copyright in the software. Guest yadayada Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Managed to get to the update files. Like I expected, it's still android 2.2.2. But with a newer build date (only checked build.prop, didn't flash) Newer built.prop (OPT_P729BV2.0.0B04): http://pastebin.com/cEQJvWcV For comparison sake, the older built.prop (OPT_P729BV2.0.0B03): http://pastebin.com/aG2HrAEX It's a pity that there is no changelog..
Guest freebooter Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 I tried the UK version on my phone which is still on the stock Orange 2.1. This update tool reports that there is no update available. I don't think Orange UK is going to bother with an upgrade to UK phones tbh.
Guest xondrax Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 I tried it on semideath 100%OSF from UK and its detected as a5 with sw version FRY_P733NV1.0.0B04
Guest hecatae Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 @KapTmaH: Thanks for the heads up! ZTE mixed up the carriers/devices names. a5 is from TMN and San Francisco from optimus. That being said, i've tested the San Francisco Terminal software on my optimus san francisco. The result: My blade is 100% stock, upgraded to android 2.2.2 using the official optimus windows application. (OPT_P729BV2.0.0B03) But now I'm curious with B04 version available on the online tool. Have anyone figured out where the update files are stored (the online server)... Yes we found a way into the server. Latest roms are only 2.2.2 though
