Guest t0mm13b Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011  Nice spec! /me is impressed. Whats the pricing on it would you know? :)
Guest Chris Banks Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Looks interesting. I wish ZTE uses a better naming system though. Its a completely different phone with the same name, and there are many blades with completely different names. I guess they are trying to use the huge popularity of the Blade name here to make this look good by association.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Screen ratio... 3:4... not sure if I dig that...But if its about Monte Carlo price I'll get one :)
Guest oxyg3n89 Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) it does not look like high end or even mid class phone from the outside...3,8 inch screen in 125x62mm while monte carlo fits 4,3 inch in 125,9mmx67.8, front buttons does not look solid and a bit ugly. however main hardware specs impressive. is it budget smartphone ? :) Edited October 13, 2011 by oxyg3n89
Guest Modifoid Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Waterproof?? :o "Weatherproof" BTW, It's supposed to be launching in November, don't know where though.
Guest targetbsp Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 The google translation of the article than goes on to say it's hose proof and submerge in water proof?
Guest t0mm13b Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 The google translation of the article than goes on to say it's hose proof and submerge in water proof? I read that as horse-proof and momentarily brain-farted there ... :D
Guest sej7278 Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 so its out-specced the skate except for screen size and has nothing to do with the blade it seems. fiver says we don't get the kernel source by november :D
Guest Pelemane Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Here it says that it has 800x480, not 800x600. It also says that it has only 65k colours and that's poop.
Guest targetbsp Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 That makes much more sense. That screen res would be a disaster for app compatibility.
Guest etal Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 The google translation of the article than goes on to say it's hose proof and submerge in water proof? Even without translation it clearly states IPX5/IPX7 - which means dustproof and should survive 30 min in water up to 1m deep. I don't see any problem with ZTE using the blade name on different phones, its not unlike samsung using 'galaxy' on all their models.
Guest gwebb Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Well that's much more like what we were hoping for with the Monte Carlo. I hope the price is good.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Here it says that it has 800x480, not 800x600. It also says that it has only 65k colours and that's poop. Good..but 65k colour we already knew from the first post, but yes, that is poop :L
Guest Modifoid Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Here are links to some videos of it demoed on YouTube, unfortunately there are all in Japanese...
Guest targetbsp Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 will it have Flash support? It says it's ARMv7 so yes, But... so does the Blade now: http://android.modaco.com/topic/347371-new-flash-version-works-perfectly-on-orange-sanfrancisco/ :)
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 A weather-/water-proof HTC Desire with 4 times the internal storage. For the right price this phone would make me go back to ZTE for my main mobile phone (which is currently a HTC Desire). Now if only ZTE would follow the example of Samsung and SonyEricsson and give away some phones to the community...
Guest Stuart_f Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 ZTE will have to do some serious grovelling to the community to make amends before I would even consider putting any money their way.
Guest executioner Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) wow nice one Edited October 16, 2011 by executioner
Guest Aurimas L. Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Screen is fu**ed up... 65k colors...
Guest Pierreism Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) I was really happy until I saw the pictures/videos of it. The new design is a little garish. Also still no OLED :( Edit: Here's another hands-on video that hasn't been listed here: You can see it's 1500mAh battery, which should give pretty amazing battery life. Guest billybiro Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Hmm.. Yes, it appears this phone is (almost) everything we wanted the Skate to be. I'll bet that ZTE manage to screw it up by charging around €400 for the thing, though! :(
