Looks interesting.

I wish ZTE uses a better naming system though.

Its a completely different phone with the same name, and there are many blades with completely different names.

I guess they are trying to use the huge popularity of the Blade name here to make this look good by association.

Screen ratio... 3:4... not sure if I dig that...But if its about Monte Carlo price I'll get one :)

it does not look like high end or even mid class phone from the outside...3,8 inch screen in 125x62mm while monte carlo fits 4,3 inch in 125,9mmx67.8, front buttons does not look solid and a bit ugly. however main hardware specs impressive. is it budget smartphone ? :)

The google translation of the article than goes on to say it's hose proof and submerge in water proof?

I read that as horse-proof and momentarily brain-farted there ... :D

so its out-specced the skate except for screen size and has nothing to do with the blade it seems.

fiver says we don't get the kernel source by november :D

Here it says that it has 800x480, not 800x600. It also says that it has only 65k colours and that's poop.

That makes much more sense. That screen res would be a disaster for app compatibility.

Even without translation it clearly states IPX5/IPX7 - which means dustproof and should survive 30 min in water up to 1m deep.

I don't see any problem with ZTE using the blade name on different phones, its not unlike samsung using 'galaxy' on all their models.

Well that's much more like what we were hoping for with the Monte Carlo. I hope the price is good.

A weather-/water-proof HTC Desire with 4 times the internal storage. For the right price this phone would make me go back to ZTE for my main mobile phone (which is currently a HTC Desire).

Now if only ZTE would follow the example of Samsung and SonyEricsson and give away some phones to the community...

ZTE will have to do some serious grovelling to the community to make amends before I would even consider putting any money their way.

I was really happy until I saw the pictures/videos of it. The new design is a little garish.

Also still no OLED :(

Edit: Here's another hands-on video that hasn't been listed here:

You can see it's 1500mAh battery, which should give pretty amazing battery life.

Hmm.. Yes, it appears this phone is (almost) everything we wanted the Skate to be.

I'll bet that ZTE manage to screw it up by charging around €400 for the thing, though! :(
