Guest Zunex Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) As i wrote in the title GEN 3 is not clear for me. Is it avaible for the Blade? What does it contain? Is it worth it? Can someone explain it for me? Sorry for my horrible english :( Edited October 13, 2011 by Zunex
Guest Zunex Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Is it a retarded question or no one knows the answer? The only thing i know so far that GEN 3 2.3.5 and it contains speed improvements. Now the only question is that is it for the Blade or for Libra??
Guest targetbsp Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) To an end user, the gen pretty much solely dictates what roms you can run on your phone and that is all. So until a rom developer tells me I need to be Gen3 to run a rom, I'm not personally interested in it! If you're after that new rom, there are already roms based on it for Gen2. Here's one: http://android.modac...s2-android-235/ Edited October 13, 2011 by targetbsp
Guest Shonk Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Its for 512/512 meg libra's and blades but the blade has to have been updated with the windows updater to gen 2 or be a gen 2 from the factory to be able to update to gen 3 in the case of wbaw tpt to gen 2 you have to revert back to gen 1 then update to gen 2 with the windows updater before you can go gen 3 Is it a retarded question or no one knows the answer? The only thing i know so far that GEN 3 2.3.5 and it contains speed improvements. Now the only question is that is it for the Blade or for Libra??

Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 I took a video of the red logo Its still processing shouldnt be long http://www.youtube.c...h?v=idjvsAW51G4 interesting - did you install the ZTE Stock ROM? I installed the mod that is floating around here, and dont see the ZTE logo that appears for you before the android. the android is the first thing I see. first in turquoise, then in the usual green, then the animation comes up.
Guest Zunex Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 looks good.. will CM support it? Should I go for GEN 3 or wait a little?
Guest hecatae Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 We are still waiting for kernel source for gen3 rom
Guest Shonk Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Thats due to yours still being Gen 2 Mine are Gen 3 interesting - did you install the ZTE Stock ROM? Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Thats due to yours still being Gen 2 Mine are Gen 3 No, mine was Gen3 when I tested that. Gen3 and this rom: http://android.modaco.com/topic/347276-mod-of-bladelibra-235-official-gen-3-only/. oh well, its not really that important :)
Guest Shonk Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 I did a full upgrade to gen 3 with the zte bin like so 1 wbaw Gen 2 - Gen 1 TPT V2 2 OUKB20 TPT 3 Blade Gen 1 - Gen 2 Windows Update 4 Ginger stir fry b27 5 ZTE Blade Official 2.3.5 6 Flash Clockwork Mod 5.0.2.0 7 Flashed My Mod Rom interesting - did you install the ZTE Stock ROM? I flashed the Gen3 firmware files but I didn't include the new splash image, instead I included the usual green one. Since you flashed the ZTE bin, you flashed their splash image, which is the ZTE logo. Taking into account our observations, it looks like the following happens on bootup: 1. The splash image in the splash partition gets displayed for a few seconds 2. The ROMs boot animation is displayed. The green android that then gets displayed is probably part of the ROM. I imagine if we flashed some other Gen2 ROM the green android would never appear if you left the ZTE logo as the splash image as for the colour, perhaps Gen3 uses a different image format - I notice the new splash image is 990KB rather than the 751KB of Gen1/2 - and consequently the old ones don't get rendered properly.

During boot images are displayed, splash image -> kernel (branding logo) -> bootanimation. That image is in kernel ramdisk and it's called logo.bmp. I think you can find it in /logo.bmp from your booted machine, but to change (remove) it you have unpack the ramdisk. It's usually some operator logo. In this Moldovan generic ROM it's green android logo, in saunalahti 2.2 stock ROM it was huge ZTE logo and in saunalahti 2.1 stock ROM it was saunalahti logo. Edited October 15, 2011 by KonstaT

Guest swukjay Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Hi thanks for the reply, So is the term gen 3 in a way not quite true as it would appear that this is actually gen 2? or is that wrong.
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Hi thanks for the reply, So is the term gen 3 in a way not quite true as it would appear that this is actually gen 2? or is that wrong. I think Gen3 has the same memory layout as Gen2, but the radio layer is incompatible. So Gen2 ROMs will boot on Gen3 and vice-versa, but the radio won't work. They both accept image.bin TPTs
Guest swukjay Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 wow lol after seeing all that it seems extremely complicated lol think i will give that a miss until someone who is really clever makes a one click way like that tpt thing lol , Doing all that is way over my head!
