Guest miremare Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Hello ive just had a brand new advent vega. ive installed VegaModdedStock_v1.10_v2 then VegaComb_HC3.2_Build9n. bugs. for a few hours its ok. once tablet is switched off or not used for a couple of hoursa the follwing happens. 1)on start up, its impossible to free the lOCK screen. the circle will not move to the padlock in landscape. In portrait the circle will move to the padlock and unlock. 2) in landscape, when i press the TIME OR WIFIi icon, the icon lights up on the opposite side of the screen in this case the BACK button 3) in lanscape, if i press the top right APPS icon, google search pops up which is on the top left. overall the tablet becomes un useable as the screen is very hard to get it to do what you want. any ideas? thanks

Guest ursulavasey Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Hi, ive also installed update three. WHEN THE VEGA IS FLAT ON THE FLOOR OR FLAT SURFACE, EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. WHEN I PICK UP THE VEGA AND HOLD IT , THATS WHEN IT ALL GOES WEIRD, ANY IDEAS When you boot up the tablet to start using it, it automatically calibrates itself, setting up the screen for use. You must make sure that you don't touch the screen at all while the Vega is booting up, otherwise the touch sensitivity goes awry. Switch it on, lay it flat and let it do its stuff, making sure that you don't touch the screen at all. Even a light touch can cause problems, but they are easily rectified by rebooting again, following the instructions about not touching the screen at all.

When I first use my tablet I had also this problem. You have to callibrate your screen. In Vegacomb you have an application named Shuttle Tools that seems to do this. When I had this issue I used MCR R8 and used Screen Callibration, included in this ROM. I hope this to be useful. Regards. Edited October 17, 2011 by Valjean
Guest AlbaJoe Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 You say you are trying to install the update, AlbaJoe. Are you having any problems with the installation of the update? yeah m8 became quite frustrating but i got there in the end lol
Guest Adam Mallinson Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 I had this same problem so went to the Corvus rom and not had it happen on that since. I would prefer to be on Vegacomb (really like honeycomb) but having to use a mouse via the dock to get anything to work was getting out of hand. I tried turning it off a few times and it never fixed the problem, although i didnt try laying it flat when i did this it was usually in the dock or at an angle. I also used the mouse to get to the Shuttle Tools program and run its screen calibration too but that never seemed to work, again the tablet wasnt flat at the time, maybe that was the issue.
Guest shaun1957 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I have this same problem too. Was running R8 initially with no problems. Ugraded to honecombe 3.2 9n with update 3 and since then my Vega has become erratic. When the app icon is touched in top right corner goes straight to google search. Then next time it goes to apps. Sometimes on start up the screen locks and the only cure is a reboot. Its a shame as the vega is really good with the honeycombe upgrade but I think I will have to revert to r8 which is far more stable. I have tried recalibrating but to no avail.
Guest Valjean Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Hi, I'm working fine with vegacomb 3.2 update 3. Some bugs' but not important ones. Te only dissappointing matter for me is that one of the speakers has said goodbye :_(. As I've read afterwards, there is an issue with that, and it's not recommended to raise te volume more than 75%.
Guest martinmrocks Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 I had the same issue, turned out to be a faulty product. Took it to currys (within 28 days) and they were happy to swap it. Even let me keep the SD card so I didn't have copy my data again.
Guest danmanmoo Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 (edited) Hi fellow comb-overs! I have this exact same issue - new/refurb'd Vega purchased via curry's ebay store which I updated to VC 3.2 build 9n with update 3. Worked fine for a few days then screen locked up with malfunctioning app links etc as described - particularly bad post restart but then seemed to get better rafter some (frustrating) use. One tip - I WOULD NOT ADVISE RE-INSTALLING - I did and now vega won't boot at all ... Typically my wife's vega which I lovingly modded to 9n update 3 is fine - no issues EVER - just mine. I am familiar enough with the install and as I say have one working machine so thinking this is just a dud. To summarise: - Modded stock 1.10 V2 installs fine - 9n installs fine via cwm (though reboot into recovery often fails first time) - If I install update 3 at same time as 9n the vega starts and is 100% fine .... until I reboot again. Then it fails to get past the "Vega is free" acid splash screen. - If I reboot and then go back into cwm for update 3 it will not reboot as above - so suggests something nasty in the update 3 zip... - I have reprooduced the issue on 2 diff sd cards and tried various combinations of data/cache/dalvik wipes or none at all but with same result. Seems odd that it worked fine at first and now not - could just be a machine fault as #martinmrocks suggests though also wondering why all seems to be ok until update 3 is applied. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - thinking I may now try a return though not sure how to play the old modded rom vs warranty game... Edited November 2, 2011 by danmanmoo
Guest Adam Mallinson Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 I dont think that the touchscreen issue is down to a faulty unit as it works fine on other roms without having to recalibrate or anything. I am currently on the Corvus5 ROM which work fines with the touchscreen, not had any problems with it. Whilst i was on Vegacomb ROM though (3.9n Update 3) i got touchscreen issues after a few days of use to the point where i had to use the dock and plug in a USB mouse to even use the tablet (kind of defeats the purpose of a tablet). If that issue could be fixed so that it does indeed recalibrate itself correctly then i would quite happily wipe and go back to Vegacomb.
Guest martinmrocks Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Well I had no issue with corvus5 then installed vegacomb got the issue then swapped it out for a new one, I'm now running vegacomb with no problems.
