Guest jayehwhy Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Hi, Sorry for being a major noob but I've scoured the net for about 2 hours now trying to find someone with the same problem as me.. Whenever I lock my blade, within about 20 seconds the screen keeps on waking up just to go back to sleep again! This means that it never goes into a deep sleep and my battery is shot within 6 or 7 hours easily! Any help will be much appreciated.

If not it is quite likely to be a misbehaving app - does it still happen when you have killed everything off (you can kill processes from settings->applications->manage applications)? Check the battery use statistics for some clues. I know you have apologised for being a noob but you haven't mentioned which ROM you are using so it is hard to give specific answers.. also it would be better to post in a more relevant sub-forum (this one is about themes).
Guest ColdEmbrace Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 I found after installing a voice control app, even though it was set not to listen for my voice unless the app was open it was stopping my phone from sleeping Vlingo just in case you wondered what the app was.
Guest uumeshh Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 (edited) I have an Indian ZTE Blade. I have tried all kinds of ROMs like CM7, SS RLS 4,5,6 etc. but there is this problem of my phone not going into deep sleep for long. Ideally if i donot use the phone, it should be sleeping for 70-80 % of time. but it hardly sleeps for 5% or less (as per CPU spy) and gives me less battery life. I have used better battery stats to check for wakelocks but find only legitimate ones (Android system etc). My other android the Huawei U8800 running ICS is mostly sleeping and has great battery life. I am very annoyed of blade therefore and request you guys to suggest me how to get my phone sleeping.. Thanx Edited March 27, 2012 by uumeshh

Guest flshg Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 I find its a case of trial and error when it comes to these type of issues - if betterbatterystats doesnt show a misbehaving app, then you just have to freeze apps until you identify what it is. Sometimes I find apps cause the android system to keep a wakelock somehow, so betterbatterstats shows 'legitimate' wakelock use even though its due to an app. I find that unchecking the 'background data' option helps with phone sleeping (of course that disables auto sync so you won't get facebook, gmail updates automatically).

Since i find my blade an under-performer, i hardly have any apps installed. and i dont sync stuff on it as my wife uses it . I have to keep it in airplane mode at night to stretch the battery for 20 odd hours.
