Guest alternate_existance Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Hi all, I made a royal mess of Android when attempting to root my Nexus S GRK39F, and wondered if anyone had (or knew where to download) a complete "factory/stock" ClockWorkMod backup i could restore. I have spent the better part of a couple of days trying to fix whatever went wrong, and now figure i would be better off just restoring a clean factory/stock image. The ironic thing was that things went bad while rooting the phone to install ClockWorkMod so that i could back it up (just in case). If anyone can help me out with a factory/stock ClockWorkMod restorable image, it would be very very very much appreciated! Hopefully someone here can help me out. Thanks!
Guest alternate_existance Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 I might be able to get it back up and running with a ClockWorkMod clean factory/stock "boot.img" and "recovery.img" restore too. I am willing to give that a shot first if anyone has factory/stock versions of those files too. Thanks!
Guest houzey Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 hey!DId you try to restore it via androidSDK? cheers
Guest alternate_existance Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Hi, I have tried to restore using adb (http://android.modaco.com/topic/299479-howto-performing-a-nandroid-restore-manually-using-adb/), but unfortunately there is no "nandroid" folder on the SD Card to restore from. There is an "Android" folder (which doesn't contain a backup) and a "clockworkmod" folder which only contains a backup of the non booting "damaged" Android installation. I could be wrong but i am pretty sure i need to get my hands on a "factory/stock" ClockWorkMod backup of everything, or at least of "boot" and possibly "recovery". Does anyone have a full Nexus S GRK39F "factory/stock" ClockWorkMod backup they would be willing to share?
Guest houzey Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 try following this instructions: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Nexus_S:_Full_Update_Guide there also is a link to the clockwork image hope it helped :)
Guest alternate_existance Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Hi, I followed "just" the "Installing the ClockworkMod Recovery Image" instructions on the link you gave me and got the following: fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img < waiting for device > sending 'recovery' (4136 KB)... OKAY [ 0.516s] writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 0.594s] finished. total time: 1.109s * I used the later 5.0.2.0 image rather than the 4.0.0.2 version listed in the article. The installation appears to have been successful, but the phone still won't boot up. At the top of the screen it states: FASTBOOT MODE - NO BOOT OR RECOVERY IMG The recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img file is only just over 4Mb. I would assume this must only be the ClockWork Recovery bootloader rather than a "full" backup. The ClockWorkMod backup i did of the already damaged file system is about 189Mb. I really want to restore the phone to the factory default image rather than user a modified image such as CyanogenMod or any of the others too. Once i can restore it, i will do a full back up and "then" i will be happy to play around non stock images etc. Thanks for your help, much appreciated! If you have any other suggestions or ideas, please let me know.
