Partitioning SD Card

Good day to all. I would like to ask about partitioning my microSD card since my unit Acer Liquid S100 has only 256mb RAM and less application saved from phone memory may help to speed up abit of my unit.

This is the specs of my unit:

Model: Acer Liquid S100

Android Version: 2.2.2

Build Number: Acer_LiquidE_4.008.08_EMEA_VFIT

Memory Card: 2gb (will be upgrade to 8gb soon)

Rooted: yes, using malez recovery 0.6.1

ive searched some data that partitioning will add 512mb where you can utilize for your application and games but im afraid they may not be fit for my unit and they require cyanogen to be installed, have no idea on that. Dont wanna brick my unit thats why i ask before i move. Please shed some light. Thanks.

Enter recovery, Sd Partition menu>select ext2 using volume button,press the 4 lines

set the first value to 0 using the volume (is for swap Liquid E doesn't need it) press home

set the second vakue to 512 Mb this is for move apps to sd home

home

restart

to move app to sd you need a custom rom, with stock rom you can move only the apps made for that and you don't need ext partition

Thanks. Will your instructions above wipe/delete data from my sd/phone memory? I got my current rom in the sticky of rom collection in official 2.2. Are custom roms stable to use? Is there any for my Liquid A1 S100? Thanks for responding. Im new but im willing to learn.

Formatting sd card will delete all data on it, but you can copy them to your pc and after restore.

If you are on stock Froyo 2.2, I suggest the Lcr-f 2 rom: it's "old" but stable and with a good battery drain.

You can flash over the stock,but do a nandroid backup from recovery before (in case something goes wrong)

My suggest is:

-nandroid backup

-copy sd card content to pc

-partitionig sd card

-flash custom rom

Do i have to install the 4.002.14.EMEA.GEN1 bin first prior to installation? And another, ive seen its 2.0, does that mean that any apps/games requiring 2.1 version wont work with this custom rom? Thanks for helping me. I appreciate it.

From your first post I can see that your phone is Vodafone branded (VF=Vodafone, IT=Italy),that rom is newest than 4.002.14;I'm not sure at 100% that you can install Lcr-F upon it!Read all the thread,maybe someone have try and report.

Thanks pierluigi, im not italian, im a filipino, i just saw this rom when i chose from the official list pinned in this forum and decided to upgrade my unit because i think this is the newest version on the list on the 2.2 section, though its official (im just wondering why it is 2.2.2 instead of 2.2 Froyo, it has no "froyo" in it.

Regarding the applications, i might as well just try them myself. Regarding partitioning, i have found an application called Link2SD which allows me now to link my apps to my SD thus decreasing the load on the internal memory (though there are little application size left in the phone memory) i did it without changing to custom rom. Might just stick with this.

I do have a problem with my current rom though, whenever i go to System>AboutPhone>DeviceInformation, something says "/proc/srs0 does not exists!" then the display shows:

About 2.2.2: every time Google release a new upgrade of the OS increase the number, so Acer used the latest;in December 2010 Google relese Os 2.3 (Gingerbread).

I see. Can Liquid A1 S100 be upgraded to 2.3 Gingerbread and higher (HoneyComb)? Ive seen the acer site they dont have any rom for DL.. Ive read somewhere that my unit is upgradable to 2.2 Froyo, not sure about higher than that. Thanks.

By the way, do you know where can i find tun.ko file, i wanna use vpn for internet access and my unit/rom has no build in tun.ko file. And, do i have to make another thread to ask my questions since it has nothing to do with partitioning anymore? thanks!

As you write on your first post:

Android version 2.2.2

The only way to get an higher os version is use a custom rom Miui or CyanogenMod based.

For the second part of the question I can' help you.
