Guest muller37 Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Saw an offer too good to refuse yesterday. A free Nexus s for only £13 a month on vodaphone with £70 cashback through Quidco and money back from selling my blade. seeing as i was paying £10 a month with giff gaff currently, the extra £3 a month for a better device with android 4.0 in the pipeline seemed too good an offer! Really sad :( to be leaving the Blade behind as really enjoyed the excitement of flashing roms, finding new features etc, and interacting with this great community. I will probably still drop in to monitor progress from time to time though! So a special thanks to all rom devs i've tried (flibblesan, WBAW, Cyanogenmod team etc) and all others who have helped me in the past. Without you the Blade would never have been so much fun!!! :D
Guest lordofangels Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) Seen that deal this morning,Great for £13 a month but the included 100Mb a month is no good for me, then any use over that is charged at £1 per 50Mb used. Total cost of phone £242. Edited October 20, 2011 by lordofangels

Total cost of phone £242. That was my only sticking point tbh but only used 90mb last month and comes with 500mb of openzone too so should be ok. android 4.0 also has the new data usage tracker and limit cap so should be easy to keep track of. also most of my home and work use is wi-fi. Adding up what i would have spent anyway i'll actually be better off so if i do go over a bit and have to spend £1-2 more then its all good. Linky if interested Also my wife got a Wildfire S at £18 a month last week, so compared to that then this is a great deal imo ! Edited October 20, 2011 by muller37
Guest Kamikaze. Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 You should be happy for getting rid of Blade...
Guest AndyHibberd Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 You can get the Nexus S for £250 completely unlocked, simfree. Then you can get a rolling 30 day with better value than that contract. Cashback deals.....ugh, I'd steer well clear.

Best off just saving the money up and buying a brand new Nexus S. I've been tempted by a Nexus S in the past, but the lack of SD card slot puts it me right off.
Guest AndyHibberd Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 And lack of LED indicators? Why u do this?! Seriously the only thing I want to improve on my blade is the camera, and I can't justify dropping £300 just to improve the camera, I bought an S95 Canon for £230!

I would have to: find £250 up frontif it malfunctioned / stopped working i'd be out of pocketi'm paying £242 including all my usage as opposed to £250 for phone then having to pay for usagei have my very good condition san francisco to sell for £70ish on flea-bayso really i'm paying £170 for 2 years phone usage with a better more up-to-date phone. The cashback isn't a redemption one like most contracts but a one-off payment through quidco. why is that bad? My san fran would have cost me £240 plus £100 purchase over 2 years on PAYG also. I think it's the fact that what the contract offers is just so atrociously low.
Guest AndyHibberd Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 It's a cheap contract because you get bugger all. To the phone company there's not much difference between selling you this contract or a sim free nexus. Come on, less than two hours calling per month?I didn't realise it was a quidco thing so I guess that's not so bad.I just feel every time I try these expensive handsets in store I think to myself is it doing anything I can't currently do on my blade? Usually no.
Guest JasonLeeming Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 I'd just rather get a decent phone on PAYG. These contracts are just pathetically lacking in minutes, texts, and data, which is the big one for me. I personally think spending £200 on a half decent phone and going on GiffGaff is the best option.

I totaly get your point but its the having the cash in the first place that put me off an expensive payg handset. also my average minites usage is 9 a month and about 100 texts and about 90mb data so for me it works but i can see how it wouldn't be suitable for others. most of my usage is over wi-fi. i never really got my moneys worth out of giff gaff really other than data. Recieved nexus s yesterday and if i'm honest it just does everything sooo much better! i love my blade and am amazed at what it can do for little outlay but there is a huge difference in quality and speed which is immediately evident. and that screen is amazing!!! Looking forward to ice cream sandwhich update now !
Guest ponzer Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) I just swapped my Blade for Nexus S last week I bought the NS in Portugal for 240EUR (210 punds), very nice phone that should have ICS comming soon! But I still miss my Blade :) Edited October 21, 2011 by ponzer
Guest jurrasstoil Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 I thought about getting one myself, but i think i'm waiting for the release of the galaxy nexus and hope that the price drops or that the current pricedrops from austria (199€ / £172) make it over to germany. The lack of an SD card slot isn't really an issue for me. You have to remove the cover and the battery from the blade to get to the SD card and I've done that once since i have my blade (dec'10).
Guest Atomix86 Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Thats a good deal and if you need extra data you can have 500mb for a fiver a month tagged on. Well done on a fantastic phone purchase!
Guest muller37 Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Can you link me to this deal? Link should be in third post. Was limited time offer so not sure if still running. Was first offer on page.
Guest teacake Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 You can get £15 pay as you go from 3 for £15 per month. 300 minutes, 5000 texts i think, unlimited net. Totally unbeatable. Sorry nothing comes close. All i need now is ice cream for me blade !. I do like the look of the montecarlo though, any reviews out there..... ice cream???

Guest Atomix86 Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Sorry nothing comes close. There's no phone included in that price plan.
