Can someone out there assist me with installing a 4gb micro sd to the ZTE Blade which has a 2gb micro sd installed at present, perhaps somewhere out there there is a concise instruction manual, I imagine that the old micro will require backing up but is that all that is required? or does the whole os need backing up at the same time?

Help would be appreciated

You don't need to do anything, just take the old one out and put the new one in. Everything thats already on the old one will still be on it when you take it out. Everything thats on the phone will still be on the phone. If you want to move stuff from the old one to the new one then you can do it via a computer.

Just to confirm, those 8, 16 32gb sd cards are the 'SDHC' versions right?

I need to upgrade my default 2gb sd card, GPS, APPs and a few songs and that is it, 400MB free (which sometimes isn't even enough for backing up my ROM!).

Just wondering how is the compatibility of the Blade with those bigger sd cards and also if it takes more time to 'mount and read' it, like after connecting it to the PC via USB. Sometimes it really piss me off after copying some files into my Blade and having to wait for a while until the phone read my apps installed in the sd card and let me use them.

use this: http://www.appbrain.com/app/samba-filesharing/com.funkyfresh.samba and it will share your sd card on your windows network so there's no need to mount it. Also no need to plug it in which is nice!

There's a thread here on sd card compatibility: http://android.modaco.com/topic/327434-16gb-sd-cards-that-definitely-work/

I'd get the Lexar 16gb from Play if it were me: http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/16710254/Lexar-16GB-Micro-SDHC-Memory-Card-Class-4/Product.html

Whilst we are on SD Cards, does anyone else find their phone takes a long time to load into a usable state when booted because of the SD card taking a long time to read?

I think mine is class 4 would it be worthwhile me upgrading to a class 10?

Depends which you have (e.g my Lexar class 4 is not much different to my PNY class 10 - but I think the samsung plus class 10 would be a fair amount faster (for not that much more).

If I was to buy now I would probably buy the Samsung plus class 10 (from play.com).

simplist fix is, keep launcher on phone and a couple apps you use a lot then hit a task killer when you turn it on and no slow downs :P

i got me 101 user apps and 83 system apps

most apps you dont use very often just stick on sd card
