aye, it got me too this morning, a bit fecked at the moment, can't root or update su

Just re-flash the ROM you are using to restore the su and root privileges, don't update su from the market until it's fixed

Please see this on another thread - no need to reinstall the ROM, just flash it in recovery and you'll be okie. DO not update the su binary until the next fix is available sometime ;)

Forgive me for asking a couple of stupid questions, but to flash it in recovery should I "install zip from sdcard" or "applysdcard.update.zip"?

I have created a nandroid backup where I recieved the message "No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.", followed by a message "backup complete", am I to assume everything is OK to continue with flashing?

Use 'install zip from sdcard' :)

Use 'install zip from sdcard' :)

Thanks for that. I have done so and still get the message that my su binary code is outdated.

Again, when I try to update it fails to find the currently installed binary.

Before I updated my zip, I did not restore factory settings nor clear the cache as I didn't want to loose loads of info. Is this where I am going wrong?

No, you are not going wrong. You should not need to clear the cache/factory settings for the flashing of the su binary.

You do not update the su binary via Superuser, until there is a fix for it , I saw this on another thread....

You did go ahead and got the Superuser to update the binary and fecked it again which means you have to flash the file as I mentioned previously from clockwork mod. AND leave it alone until the fix is confirmed in the market.

Don't go tearing off, after flashing the said file I mentioned, and firing up Superuser and that just kills the binary! :)

Wait until the confirmation is on the market stating that it fixes the issue of Superuser b0rking the su binary file.

Once it's confirmed, 1) update the superuser.apk from the market, then 2) update the su binary AFTER doing step 1.

Then it should all be good... :D :)
