Guest dibbles Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Hi I have used the VC 9 build 3 ROM but now I'm using the latest CM 7 nightly. For some reason when I log into the market on my PC in my account I see.. Vodafone ZTE Blade ...I no longer see my Advent Vega. I used to do so at one time. Now certain apps that I had previously paid for are showing in my browser as... This app is incompatible with all of your devices. Such as this drawing application for children... https://market.android.com/details?id=tipitap.coloring#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDUwMSwidGlwaXRhcC5jb2xvcmluZyJd ...I have downloaded from the market with the Vega and it does show some apps that I have previously bought, like Titinium for example. I have logged into my account from the browser on the Vega and through the market app but it still does not show the Vega as being one of my devices. This does not help... https://www.google.com/support/andro...answer=1141080 Surely I should see the Vega as one of my devices and how can this be resolved..? Not sure what I can do here..?
Guest IanTurner Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 This has already been posted about. Questions have been asked and stock answers received. It's possible that Google are blocking devices Where the manufacturer didn't pay for a licence for the market even though this would undermine income from market sales. On the other Hand it seems that some folks with devices that should be listed had also seen those vanished though this may be hearsay. There is currently no solution
Guest dibbles Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 (edited) Thanks for your reply :) I was just popping back to report what you have noted and seen here... http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=11ab1d6a6ce63d38&hl=en&fid=11ab1d6a6ce63d380004aff495f4a759 and... http://tabletroms.com/forums/vega-rom-development/2806-vegacomb-device-disappeared-market-android-com.html oh hum :( I really want the paid drawing application that I bought but it no longer shows up on the Vega and it is now stated to be incompatible even though I had previously bought and used it.! I wonder if editing the build.prop to change the device and reported OS would help...? Edited October 23, 2011 by dibbles
Guest AlbaJoe Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 thanks for updating dibbles. i think its a license issue which is yet to be communicated down to us. I wonder how this might affect Vega 2. its a pittyseeing all this AppleVsAndroidVsVegaVsanythingthatmoves
Guest dibbles Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 You could be right. Going back to the Corvus ROM, for other reasons, still hasn't given me back access to the apps I have paid for.
Guest dibbles Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Just to add that even with the Corvus ROM (Froyo 2.2) the market will not recognise my Advent Vega any more as a device / tablet.
Guest markinton Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 I suspect this is part of the introduction of Books and Movies to the market, ie tightening up of access requirements to placate content suppliers. I haven't tried any movies yet but book purchases through the market app fail for me. However, if I purchase a book (or download a preview) on another android device, that is officially supported, it happily syncs with my Vega.
Guest IanTurner Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 That's because your problem is the account you used to purchase the apps with is no longer associated with that device and while it will allow you to download freebies it's protecting it's suppliers from being a victim of multiple downloads of apps by people who didn't pay for it. Which you did but then Google are just being stupid
Guest dibbles Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 It will allow me to download some of the paid apps like Titinium, Myth defenders, Fieldrunners etc etc etc. As those can be used for my ZTE Blade they are still showing as being compatible and thus there to download with any device it seems. However tablet specific apps which would not work with my ZTE phone like the children's drawing application which I bought no longer show up within the market. I would have thought that going back to a Froyo 2.2 ROM would have brought recognition from Google with my tablet. If I or my wife, with her Vega, is in a position of needing to use the 1.10 ROM then I will try that as that should work fine as it is an official release for the Vega. I am guessing that Google is taking something more than just the information from the build.prop to determine the authenticity of the device and the software it is using..? Maybe the kernel information..?

The VEGA doesn't ship with Android Market as it is not a supported device, so no amount of different ROMs will get a result I'm afraid. We need someone clever to do something clever with the custom ROMs to get round this.
Guest dibbles Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 That is a very good point which I had forgotten. So maybe the Vega will always be an unsupported device for the market as it was never supposed to be there in the first place..?! I did make many changes to the build.prop to reflect the Vega but maybe I should have used the Xoom ID one instead..? However I imagine that it would not be as simple as that.
Guest Istu Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 I'm a novice really in this area - but I have had the exact same issue. I read somewhere that it is the actual Google "Android Market" app that is the sticking point. Advent Vega's have never had a license for it? (or something like that). I think that if you can get a .apk of the app you want, you can install it manually though (? I think ?).
Guest mxbob Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 sorry for bumping an old thread but i just wanted to make sure there is still no work around to this? i cant buy apps from the market at all with the vega (free apps download fine) even tried contacting the manufacturer of an app i wanted but they basically just advised me to make sure my account worked in the market and retry the purchase
