Guest Woshmistro Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Tried a Skype call to my sister, while its ok on my side, on her side she complained that everything she said echoed very badly. I thought it could be the mic and speakers were too close so I tried to reduce the volume, but going 2 clicks under max, the audio from her stops/mutes so we couldn't hear her and can't fix the problem. The video was quite good and we could see each other, but some times the video and audio would freeze or lag. In conclusion, it's not very good to use with Skype calls in my experience and kinda regret buying the tablet. I hope Skype or Archos adds proper noise cancellation and better support.

I had the exact same issue, when talking to my girlfriend using googletalk, so it sounds like it is not just a skype issue. This was one of the main reasons I bought it, so unfortunately, I just posted it back to Archos. Pretty irritated about purchasing it direct from Archos for £220 (Including postage), and effectively being beta testers for all the stuff that was buggy. And then it comes out at £170 in Dixons. Just had to pay £17 to get it posted with tracking also... Ah the life of the Archos customer (Studio 20, and Gmini400 owner :) )

Have you checked if the new firmware fixes the volume issue?
Guest todoleo Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I use the stereo/mic headset to my Orange Monte Carlo/ZTE Skate with the Archos 80 G9. The tablet is unasable for video/voice calls without it.
