Advent Vega and USB

I posted this question in Customisation then realized that I am probabily better posting here.

I can't connect my Advent Vega to my P.C. via USB. The manual states a USB symbol should appear in the notification area at the top of the Advent screen.

This does not appear and I can't see the Advent in "my computer".

My P.C. is running Windows7 pro and my Advent has been modied with MoDaCo custom rom Advent Vega r8 and running andriod v 2.2
