Guest Eran Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 I just tried out some games by ziosoft and i must say they work great on the spv. I tried Metalion and even the buttons are set to work and you can exit the game with * it works at full speed and 3/4 part of the screen is showing, same with powow and fifa soccer 2002. I'll email them to ask them to port the stuff over to the spv, go ahead and try out the demos its pretty cool. Anyways maybe someone could make a screen fix for these games which will shrink the screens size to make it viewable in full screen Eran
Guest dodgybob Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Wheres can I find these games? Can you kinda post a link for me {I haven't got particularly developed brain cells yet}
Guest dodgybob Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Thanx mate... HOw did you get them to work? Aren't they designed for PocketPC? Won't they have like large screens? Whats the speed like? What are the gtraphics like?
Guest Eran Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 try out for examply metalion's demo install in normally via activesync Eran
Guest meaks Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 FIFA doesnt seem to work for me - won't load. :)
Guest dodgybob Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Metallion runs sooooooooo fast!!! Me will be downing more games and testing them!! Its unbelievable!!! Good find!! Nice one Eran!
Guest swanseastu Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I assume this is for unlocked phones only? Stu
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I assume this is for unlocked phones only?  Stu Afraid so
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 That's the one I want (as mentioned ages ago :) ) but I'm not going to buy the full product to find out ;)
Guest blade6750 Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 just tried metalion it runs GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but fifa 2002 dont work man some of the display can be seen due to screen size. But the games is more than playable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Guest DJHope Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 wow i cant believe those run, would require like 1% extra code to make it run perfectly on spv, mental!
Guest uczmeg Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Does Age of Empires Work????? Does it matter? AOE is pretty great on the pocket pc with some compromises on screen size over the pc version, however it would be near impossile to play on the SPV. Even if you could get over the screen, control without a mouse or stylus would make it unplayable. Stunned at how fast Metallion runs! (just as well as on my 400mhz Xscale Loox!) Going to try a few more as I own quite a few of their pocket pc versions.... Cheers Marc
Guest kevlar Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Metallion? Don't you mean Space Harrier :) Kevlar
Guest TheDillyYo Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 RESPEC...ERAN.... Ive tried METALION(SPACE HARRIER) and POWWOW and they run very nice indeed...but like u say could do with some screen adjustments... Thats a few more sleepless nights for our MASSIVE DAPPA DON DEVELOPERS...
Guest yatpeak Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 If anyone tries AOE and it works, please post. If it does I'll probably unlock my SPV. That would be GREAT! Wyatt
Guest toadvox Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Good news and bad news! The good news is that I managed to get hold of a full copy of Metallion fom a friend and it works great. (Sorry... Space Harrier). Very playable. The bad news is that after spending an hour or so downloading Age Of Empires, I think it would have worked but when it goes to install, the installer only see's your phones memory, tries to install it to there and there's just not enough space! It doesnt seem to take into account your SD card. Shame. Great wars could have been won and lost. Oh well. Thinking about Space Harrier, I was wondering..... What about an Atari ST Emulator??
Guest Shuflie Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Do you mean a desktop installer program which tries to copy the cab file over to the phone memory or is it as the cab runs on the phone? If it's the latter then you're stuck, however if its just a case of the desktop program reporting back that there's not enough memory on the phone have a look in C:Program FilesMicrosoft ActiveSync for the AOE dirctory and copy the cabfile over to the SD and run it from there.
Guest uczmeg Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Thinking about Space Harrier, I was wondering..... What about an Atari ST Emulator?? Funny you should say that, I'm just about to try one on my pocket pc. After that I may try it on the phone, although from what I'm reading it is quite stylus heavy. Cheers Marc
Guest Eran Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 I installed it fine on my SPV, but it needs 10mb of program memory to run properly so it wont run. If there was a memory tweak prog anyways it would probarly work Regards Eran
Guest akarno Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 I think I am being dumb (again). I went to the ziosoft web site (very slow) and downloaded what was claimed to be the Metalion demo. File name metalion_pocketpc_demo(v1[1].1).exe When I run it, it tries to install Cygwin. I seem to end up with a bash kernel for windows, which I really don't need. It's bad enough having to use it on Unix. What am I doing wrong??
Guest davy Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Fellow beginners, be careful. Metalion demo didn't load first couple of tries but eventually got it running. (excellent demo). I then got carried away and tried to load Spawn demo. My PC warned me not enough memory on phone but asked if I wanted to carry on anyway. Bad move-I carried on in hope that I would get option to store to card later. It didn't happen and a half hour or so later my phone completely froze. Pulled battery but phone would not go past blue smartphone screen when I switched it on again. Had to reflash ipsm from my backup to sort it. Hope this info prevents other forum readers from knackering their phones like I did. Thanks again for all the expert advice guys. Without the backup (full on 56 mb card - it didn't work on 8 mb one) I would be sitting here with a seriously knackered phone. Davy
Guest blade6750 Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 i had a similar problem the phone locked up. when i restarted it took ages on the blue screen. but eventually started after a long time. then what u need to do u delete the files in the install DIR somwhere in the ispm. once u do that mine was fine
