Guest PhenomHTX Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) Im using only WCDMA internet from Polish GSM network on my PC, and now i can share it for my android device. I'm using Cyanogen rom, but it should work for all roms ( i try on Moldovan and its working) 1.Download free program Connectify - http://www.connectify.me/ 2. Turn on your Wifi in PC 3. Install program 4. Restart PC 5. Run program, chose you'r internet to share in "internet" windows 6. Set up Hotspot name and password (minimum 8) In Advanced chose you'r Wifi connection type In Security Mode chose Access Point WPA2-PSK Click Start Hotspot, and connect phone by WiFi It's working perfect, no more AD-HOC and IP problems !!! Sometimes when i disconnect by phone from WiFi i need to restart program to get it working. Edited October 28, 2011 by PhenomHTX
Guest t0mm13b Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Great if you have winblows. :) Other platforms are ... somewhat... lacking :)
Guest popoyaya Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Windows 7 has this functionality built-in, it's called "virtual wifi", and you don't need connectify. Just create a text document with the following text: netsh wlan set mode=allow ssid=Laptop key=1234567890 netsh wlan start hostednetwork save it as a .bat file with the filename "wlan_on.bat" and double click to activate. You can change the ssid and key to whatever you like. To disconnect the virtual network use the following in a .bat file saved as "wlan_off.bat": netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
Guest unrandomsam Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Great if you have winblows. :) Other platforms are ... somewhat... lacking :) Linux is the easiest of them all. really easy to do - Linux -> Linux adhoc (using just wireless-tools) You just need iwconfig etc (that you get in the wireless-tether apk) Much easier to do that than any gui method (network-mangler etc or using any android app) It works exactly as man iwconfig implies it should

Guest popoyaya Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 (edited) It's AD-HOC, and it's doenst working! It's working for me and it''s not ad-hoc, it's a fully functional wireless access point. You also have to enable internet connection sharing (ICS) for it to work. Connectify is just really a GUI for this service. Ad-hoc is completely different and is set up in a different way in windows. Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 You can do the same with the intel software that comes bundled with their drivers, provided you have a reasonably new intel wifi chipset. I think it has the ability to emulate an access point in hardware.
