Modaco Custom ROM 2.2 r12 v Swedish Spring

I'm quite new to Android phones and was using 2.1 quite happily until I read about upgrading to 2.2 and how it's supposed to be much better.

Well, I tried Swedish Spring and was pretty disappointed. Quite sluggish. I was going to go back to 2.1 but then gave the Modaco 2.2 a go and the difference is amazing.

Anyone else find the same? Is there a 2.2 that's works better than the Modaco r12?

2.2 is old try 2.3 roms like moldovian mile high mountain pie and CM7
