Guest Karucifer Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Motorola have obviously had enough of Asus stealing all the next-gen tablet limelight with various hints and leaks about the Transformer Prime and have paper-launched two new tablets, the XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition. The XOOM 2 appears to be a simple refinement on its predecessor with a 10.1" Gorilla Glass display and "splash-guard" whereas the XOOM 2 Media Edition has a smaller a 8.2" display boasting wider viewing angles suitable for video. Both units pack a 1.2Ghz dual core CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB of storage, 1.3MP/5MP cameras for the front/rear respectively and are less than 9mm thick. In terms of battery, Motorola reckon the 10.1" will last 10+ hours of web whereas the smaller Media Edition will manage 6+ hours browsing or 3 days of music playback, the last figure is a little odd, 8" seems a bit big for an MP3 player. No sign of Ice Cream Sandwich at present, Motorola are listing the units as shipping with Android 3.2. It's surprising to see no mention of an upgrade considering how keen Moto was to announce that 4.0 would be coming to the Razr just hours after the Android 4.0 event last month. Both units are going to be arriving in the UK and Ireland mid-november. Source: Motorola This item was promoted to the News page - click here to view.
