Yes, Orange are releasing the San Fransisco 2.

At a glance, seems to me like a shrunk down skate.

800mHz

5mp

3.5" 4800x800 TFT

Android 2.3

ARM11

Not really sure about much else, but I'm assuming it will be making itself available just before Xmas.

I hope it will be as successful Mod-wise as the blade :D

And ICS is just round the corner to :). Can't wait!

IF Orange decide to release it for this one unlike how they didn't keep up with the San Francisco 1 updates :|

I'm not worried about that, google will release the sourcecode in 2 Weeks. and when the uber geeks get hold of it i'm sure we will see some custom takes on it.:)

800Mhz single core, is it enough? =/ I know, ARMv7 but still. And the screen is still only 262k colours, not proper 16M, so you will get the banding / dithering. Sigh. C'mon ZTE, you can do better than this.

What with phones like the Nexus One being deemed too weak for ICS, what chance is there for this Blade 2?

Where did you see ARMv7? AFAIK ARM11 = ARMv6.

I am dissapoint. Would have wanted a 1GHz ARMv7 processor in this.

If it is ARM11 as Mushroom_Lord says then it will be just as pointless as the Skate.

I'd be happy with an 800Mhz ARMv7 though if Roph is right. And I think that 18bit colour is enough on something as small as a phone screen. The weird banding we have atm is from the roms using 16bit transparencies to improve speed.

Arm11 equals armv6 according to wikipedia.

May have to ditch zte

What a lame upgrade, we can already run 2.3 on the current san fran this is no major improvement what so ever.

I expected more atleast ARMv7 not the same old ARMv6.

Doesn't mean anything without proof anyone could write something like that.

(e.g I could say I know 100% its going to be same as ZTE Star).

Without reasonable proof there is no reason for me to believe you. (Others can decide for themselves).

**Edit** Orange site states it.

There is no reason to buy this (No doubt it has the same unlock mechanism as the Skate).

The extra speed is likely as useless as overclocking the blade is.

(Armv6 doesn't scale properly above 600mhz - The only way Arm got around it was by dropping support for the original arm abi from armv7).

Says alot about the stupidity of the British public compared to the Japanese public anyway. (Presuming Softbank and Orange have both got it right with what people will put up with).

Its wrong the way Orange treats their customers with such contempt.

The only way to win is wait until there is another product like the blade (Easy unlock highly subsidised available with just a £10 topup and never topup again).

What I don't understand is why ZTE is doing this. Only reason I can think of is Orange deliberately doesn't want to sell anything decent cheaply (so they can rape the customer with contracts).

As I understand It's a ZTE U880 with a different shell.

Wouldn't really class it to much of an upgrade really, unless its dirt cheap.

I think its purely to make it harder to unlock. (And as another cash grab for people who don't install custom roms).

Where to you get that information from ? (Not saying you are wrong)

I thought however that was the Marvell one (That was just for the wierd Chinese 3G).

I will assume its also a MSM7x27. From the Orange site, you can tell this is really just a blade with a few minor tweaks by looking at the hardware.

So if Zte are sticking with Qualcomm, there are only two Qualcomm ARM11 chips, MSM7x27 and MSM720x. (neither of which I can find of the Qualcomm website: http://www.qualcomm.com/products-services/chipsets/mobile-processors)

So I will have to guess same Adreno200? I was wanting a 205 atleast :/

Doesn't seem like an upgrade to me.

If the hardware is the same and the graphics color is only 256k, it's effectively a DOWNGRADE.

Say it had a 4.3" screen, ARMv7 scorpion 800Hmz CPU, and 16M colors at 800x400, 512Mb RAM, THEN it would be basically a slightly uprated SKATE.

The Skate has practically identical hardware like the Blade, except it has a larger screen, flash for the cam and 5mpx (though that number means nothing if the sensor is of low quality).

I think that a real upgrade to the Blade needs a better CPU (single core at 1GhZ at least - snapdragon), with 4.3", etc...

I mean, come on, Dual core cpu's are out on the market, and I can understand wanting to remain affordable, but I doubt that 1GhZ Single Core Snapdragon cpu is beyond 'the budget'.

The Nexus One can actually run ICS fine, just Google hasn't done it "officially". But the hardware is perfectly capable of it.

Also that picture of it looks really cheap...it does appear to have a front camera though but I still think it looks like a kids toy.

The original Blade design wasn't exactly beautiful...and to me it looks to have aged quite badly when compared with my mates' HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxys etc...but I'll pwn them all when I get my Nexus S wink.gif

Spec wise It's quite the same. And this wouldn't be the first time for ZTE rebadging phones. Example: Zte Blade and Libra. Sorry for doublepost

Ok, I could get a lot of hate from this, but has anyone got anything to say the Blade isn't 262k colours?
