Guest richardmlea Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) Hi all, I have cut up my internal metal panel while modding my vega and could do with a replacment if any one has one lying around. :D A few months ago someone posted that they had changed thier lcd for a fatter patent one. They couldnt get the metal panel back in so didnt bother using it. Is that you? and Do you still have it? I searched for the thread about the repair but cant find it now. Anyone remember the thread and who started it? If anyone else has a broken vega they have split-out i am looking to buy this part. PM me if you can help. Edited November 4, 2011 by richardmlea

I wish I had been more patient, because although structurally the Frankenvega is fine without it, I suspect that my subsequent erratic touch-screen behaviour is related to losing the sheilding it provided. Good luck finding one. Sorry I can't help.

I did think it was a shielding problem until a few days ago when I discovered something interesting. I didn’t have the touch screen issues until about month ago after I had been messing around inside. A few days ago I think I found a fix that proves it’s a hardware issue causing the problem. When the problem is happening if I squeeze the left side of the Vega, near the top left corner of the screen but not touching the touch screen the issue disappears while I am squeezing it and returns when I stop squeezing it. (Holding the Vega in landscape with the power buttons at the top). I tried to film it happening so I could show it here but I was by myself and needed help to hold the camera, then the problem stopped (it intermittent for me). Where I am squeezing it there are no components other than the touch screen and the edge of the battery and LCD. I will post a video of it happening as soon as I have fixed another issue I have (damaged my LCD and waiting for another to arrive). Edited November 5, 2011 by richardmlea
