Guest Stevieblueyez Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I've scoured through the forums to find anyone with the same problem, but can't seem to find any so here goes. I have a Gen 1 Orange San Fran that was given to me by my father (no... honest!) saying "This has stopped working". I've no idea what he'd done to it, but whenever he started it the green Android man would come on, followed briefly by the red back light coming on then phone would just constantly reboot and get stuck in this loop until the battery died. I took it off him and then bought a brand new replacement battery off ebay, re-installed clockwork, re-installed the orange stock rom for Gen 1. After a few attempts it actually booted the rom and ran fine. I could start it up, connect to WIFI, make and recive calls ... it was back to it's best. Then a couple of days later, BAM... back to the same problem constantly rebooting. I've tried numerous different roms with numerous different versions of Clockwork Recovery. I've TPT flashed it to Gen 2 and tried Swedish Spring. I get the fat android logo, then the White screen with ZTE logo in black/blue, then reboots (same cycle as with the Orange Stock rom with the slim android logo and then the orange logo). I downgraded with TPT to Gen 1 again and tried the orange stock rom again, but I'm back to the same rebooting pattern. The phone boots into recovery fine, its goes into fastboot mode fine also and I can flash boot or recovery without any issue from ADB or fastboot-windows. I can mount/unmount the SD card and use all the features in Clockwork. But nothing seems to fix the problem. Is this bricked? or has anyone seen anything like this before? Hope someone can help.

Quite honestly, and in fairness, this terminology 'bricked' is going too far... The blade boots, it is not bricked! Using the terminology "bricked" implies quite the reverse, as in... dead blade baby! (Cue motorbike revving, a lá scene from Pulp Fiction where the boxer hits the road after Zed gets hit...) I've TPT flashed it to Gen 2 and tried Swedish Spring. I get the fat android logo, then the White screen with ZTE logo in black/blue, then reboots (same cycle as with the Orange Stock rom with the slim android logo and then the orange logo). The fat android logo is correct, the part with white screen with ZTE logo, never seen/heard of that. To me that sounds suspiciously sounding like a Gen1 booting on Gen2...or vice versa.... I admit its "unusual", not bricked mind you... I downgraded with TPT to Gen 1 again and tried the orange stock rom again, but I'm back to the same rebooting pattern. Again, Gen2 booting on Gen1 suspect here... Unless something went truly wrong with the TPT.... is the blade OLED by any chance?
Guest hecatae Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Format boot and system cache etc using clockwork
Guest Stevieblueyez Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Tomm13B thanks for your comments above. I take your point about the point 'bricked', and will refrain. When I managed to get it to run the first time and boot into android, I managed to run Mr. Pigfish and it said it's a Gen 1. Pretty sure it's a TFT screen though. I used TPT to update to Gen 2 and applied a Stock Rom for Gen 2 phone (that's the one with the white screen/ZTE logo), but it gets to that logo, stalls there for about 5 econds then reboots. I then downgraded it back to Gen 1 and applied Stock Rom for Gen1, and again I get the same result only this time I get the Green Android Logo -> Orange logo for 5 seconds then reboots. Just as it reboots the screen gets powered off and the phone vibrates quicly (like the haptic feedback feeling). Also tried formatting cache and boot as mentioned above, nothing I can think of or have seen in any other forums seems to fix this.

This sounds more like a hardware fault somewhat... :)
Guest unrandomsam Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Try cleaning the battery contacts. (qtip and isopropyl alcohol works well).
