Guest Fluffykins Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Hi all. Running Orange Stock ROM, with a 16G SD card. Forgot to charge the phone a few days ago an' it went flat and into auto shutdown on low battery. It doesn't get used an awful lot and I was getting 3-4 days standby out of it. After the unscheduled powerdown I had a corrupted SD card, which I reformatted in the phone and reloaded with the odds and sods I had on there. (Fortunately I had some reasonable backups and I didn't actually loose that much, just some photos and some songs I was about to delete anyway). What I have noticed now, is that I'm getting a day out of the phone, even with the SD card unmounted. >8( Before Itry recalibrating the battery, does anyone have any ideas/observations/similar experiences that may be useful? Plan B is for it to fail and go back. Ta all Fluff

The most you can do is ... read on :) What I have noticed now, is that I'm getting a day out of the phone, even with the SD card unmounted. >8( Before Itry recalibrating the battery, does anyone have any ideas/observations/similar experiences that may be useful? Plan B is for it to fail and go back. Ta all Fluff For a smartphone, expected battery life is a day at the most, so try keep the battery in shape by topping up whenever you can. Do not let the battery ever run flat, its not good for the battery's health either. :)
Guest jventura Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 Before Itry recalibrating the battery, does anyone have any ideas/observations/similar experiences that may be useful? Install AndroSensor from Market, and see what is the Battery Voltage at 100%. Li-ion cells max charge is around 4.2V or 4200 mV, but gradually they lose quality.. My 1 year old Blade only recharges to a max of 4170 mV.. It's odd, though, that I was getting a really good battery life right up to the moment the phone shut down and not since then. Wonder if the battery stats file got screwed up? Guest Fluffykins Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Update After a some while thoroughly charging more or less every day, I inadvertently let the phone go very nearly flat. I caught it just in time and recharged it for some hours. Since then, I've been regularly getting 3-4 days out of it again. Does any one know how the battery management software monitors the state of the battery? Could it be that leaving a charge to the last moment forced a recalibration?
