Hi all, my daughter is nippin my head for an ipad for xmas. As she is only 10 years old i feel this is a far too expensive bit of kit for her and i personally grudge given apple my money. She will be mainly using it for angry birds, music and internet, the tablet will need to be fairly robust and ideally running on gingerbread at a minimum. £180 would prob be the maximum i would like to spend. Spotted this is A1CS X220 TABLET 10.2" ANDROID 2.2, WIFI, MIFI, HDMI, 1080P, GPS WITH CAM on amazon which seems ok? Whats you guys thoughts or any other suggestions?????

Thanks in advance.

That one looks to be from www.dealextreme.com, quality is really questionable. You better ask someone from US to send you Kindle Fire, it fits your price range and has great quality.

Might as well get an Archos G9 80

Hi Braddison,

I'm currently going through the same thing, if only so that there'll be another tablet to use when our young 'un says it's 'his turn' on the iPad. Not bought anything yet, but, for what it's worth, here are the ones I'm looking at:

1) Play-base (http://www.play-base.com/index.php) - Looks nice, but it's £180, would want to see a review before committing.

2) Andypad pro (http://www.andypad.co.uk/products/5-andy-pad-pro.aspx )- seems pretty good again, but again - hight end of my price range and I have heard moans.

3) Storage Options Scroll Excel (http://www.storageoptions.com/products/scroll/tablets/scroll-excel) - just got a decent review on The Gadget Show, and looked pretty decent in their limited runthrough - and that price is not to be sniffed at.

BUT. I've not ruled out 2 other options

4) A Kindle fire - imported from America via www.bundlebox.com. It's not a beast, but its well built and you know it will sell millions and so will have the developers crawling all over it.

5) A reduced price Blackberry Playbook - There are lots of indications that the price is going to come down to $199 on this one. It's a lovely bit of kit (basically a more powerful Kindle Fire) - and the native OS (QNX, I think) is nice, but it will also play android apps to an extent. I'm still looking into whether or not I can replace QNX with Android if I wish.

As I say - I've made no decision yet - I'm still waiting to see what happens on Black Friday and beyond, but hopefully this may be some use to you.
