My wife and I both have the Orange San Fransico. My battery lasts about twice as long as my wife's and I probably use my phone more than she does. I'm running FLB-Froyo R10, and my wife is running Swedish Spring RLS5. Even before I updated my wife's phone from the stock ROM recently, here battery life was still worse than mine.

I've tried all the normal battery saving measures - display brightness and timeout, set preferred network to GSM only and recently calibrated the battery and it's no better.

My wife's phone seems to differ from mine in that when my screen turns off, so does my wifi and I use Wifi Fix to turn it back on. My wife's wifi never turns off even when the screen is off. Her phone bleeps when she gets an email even when the phone is on standby. I've tried turning the Wifi policy to 'when screen turns off' but this doesn't work - the wifi remains on all the time.

In my wife's battery usage it says - Phone Idle - 23%, cell standby 23%, wifi 22%, android OS 11% etc.

Is there anything else I can try doing?

Cheers, Damian.

At least for me changing to 2G makes the battery life worse.
