Guest Indiant Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 In our country you can buy the ZTE Skate from only one provider. But you belongs to another. The phone is sim locked. You can unlock it thanks to xiaoyaoswim and MoDaCo. But you don't want to lose your warranty. There is no published provider rom, with or without firmware. How can you lock or relock the Skate or OMC????
Guest tillaz Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 unlocking should not void your warranty... it never has for me with previous phones
Guest Indiant Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) unlocking should not void your warranty... it never has for me with previous phones In our country (Hungary) unlocking is illegal. That is the first thing what the service checks, and after that they cut the warranty paper and the 2 year warranty over. The legal unlocking by provider costs 60£ , so half of the phone's price.... Guest D3abL3 Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) I need this too, here there are some unlocking methods that make you loose the warranty(unlock by machine for example). If the code could be read and the phone unlocked by code then it's ok, but the method we've been using voids its warranty. I may be mistaken but the should be able to be read in FTM with QPST(on the locked phones ofc). Edited November 17, 2011 by D3abL3
Guest Indiant Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Somebody tried that, when with dest-10.ini file update the fw. then the phone will be locked? The dest-10.ini files stores one carrier/provider info, so maybe that is the lock. For example, dest-10.ini file for UK Orange: (COUNTRY = United Kingdom) [MAGIC_NUM] set=262626 [sMT_TOTAL_LOCKNET] total=3 [sMT_LOCKNET_1] COUNTRY=Ó˘ąú SERVER=Orange NET_TYPE=0 MCC=234 MNC=33 SUB_NET=---- [sMT_LOCKNET_2] COUNTRY=Ó˘ąú SERVER=Orange NET_TYPE=0 MCC=234 MNC=86 SUB_NET=---- [sMT_LOCKNET_3] COUNTRY=test SERVER=test NET_TYPE=0 MCC=001 MNC=01 SUB_NET=---- Edited November 18, 2011 by Indiant

Guest unrandomsam Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) unlocking should not void your warranty... it never has for me with previous phones Definitely depends how you do it. There are some phones you have to cut the plastic away to find the testpoint in order to be able to perform the unlock. (And various things in between). If they have a suitable jtag solution they can definitely tell you have done this. Perhaps if you totally bricked it prior to sending it back. Wouldn't say its very fair to send it back if you have done something like this. Edited November 18, 2011 by unrandomsam
Guest Indiant Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 Nobody knows how the locking system works? I can not understand that there is a cefs.mbn, that can't read out from the phone with computer (and you can flash only with the exe method), BUT when you enter on the phone 16 numbers it is easily mod itsef. It is impossible!
