Guest Navie Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 vote on which is best If you put up the same poll in the SF forum, i'm sure SF will get more votes
Guest TouchyAndalou Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 I have both, and there's no question that the OMC is the better phone. The only thing the Blade has over it is community support.

Indeed, and unless the operators reduce Skate's prize our community will not grow that much.... Maybe xmas brings us a surprise :D Edited November 19, 2011 by D3abL3
Guest Joey Scarf Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 If you put up the same poll in the SF forum, i'm sure SF will get more votes  There already is a poll in the osf forum, so i wanted to see how they would compare
Guest dibbles Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 There already is a poll in the osf forum, so i wanted to see how they would compare The sheer numbers of SF users would surely bias that poll.?! I have only just bought the OMC and I am so impressed with it and now my trusty SF has been put away in the drawer. It has been a superb upgrade for me that was only made possible when the OMC was able to be unlocked.Running the 1.8D version of the BLUEMONTE 2.3.4 ROM and it works great. Didn't bother to root it as the ROM is already rooted. The screen size is fantastic and the GPS software I'm using works a treat. It is that good that my wife has just bought one and now we both have our SF's put away. With the offer on at the moment in the Orange shops for the large goody bag of free gifts with the phone it is even a better buy than it already is.

Guest xiaoyaoswim Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 I would say OMC is still very young - only released for about 3 months, so there is a huge potential growth for community support.
Guest TCA Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 As a complete mobile phone novice I watched with interest as the community developed around the SF (and was duly impressed) but decided to wait for the release of the MC as the bigger screen alone had much more appeal for me. It has also been interesting lurking here to see the developments, especially in terms of progress in unlocking the MC, but as it stands I do no yet feel confident enough to buy the MC and attempt unlocking or loading new ROMs. Probably moreso the unlocking, which would be important for me, as I just see more and more posts of people experiencing difficulties, and they seem to be those already with some technical knowledge. Whereas I have none. The MC looks to be a whole lot of phone for the money (great to have the further discount from the original price) but I think until someone creates a complete idiots guide to unlocking, then I'm going to have to sit on the sidelines jealously looking in. So SF or MC for me? For now, neither! But hopefully Monte Carlo one day soon. P.S. A big "well done" to those guys who sussed the unlock. You've made a lot of people very happy!
Guest wrtease Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 well f you get stuck you can always ask ,anybody can do it .i have both blade and omc just the sam idea but unlock is easy to if you follow guides. omc for me bigger screen.blade okay to for my second mobile.
Guest achromic Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 As an owner of multiple blades and only 1 skate, I must say that the skate is by far the more superior of the two phones. The screen size completely blows the blade away for someone who suffers from fat finger syndrome I can now text at twice the speed and with only half the number of mistakes. As for the community being small, I wouldn't worry about it, now that we've got an unlocking solution (with many thanks to xiaoyaoswim, and tilal6991, and probably others I've forgotten), we'll get many more followers and converts. If we can get frankish on board to help with themes (the stuff he's done for the blade is amazing, if you haven't already seen it), then we're laughing. On a personal note, if Paul could update the kitchen rom then I'd be happy. Anyhooooooo, that's my 2p worth of prattle, I'm taking myself off for a well deserved coffee
Guest TCA Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 well f you get stuck you can always ask ,anybody can do it .i have both blade and omc just the sam idea but unlock is easy to if you follow guides. you say that but the unlock thread lasts for 19 pages and just looking at the last few entries sees questions about QPST configurations, FTM, nv files, wi-fi not working, MAC addresses, QCN files, adb devices and so on. i haven't a clue what any of that means and although not afraid to get something wrong, i'd be worried about bricking the phone. also, that thread seems to be full of corrections to the original instructions and more questions than answers, so I wouldn't even be sure where to start. unless there's another guide that i'm missing somewhere?
Guest wrtease Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 guides are easy to read and if you managed to do the blade then its easy.

Guest wrtease Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 its all the help and its your choice .
Guest dibbles Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 the rooting doesn't seem to be as easy as the blade though, from what I have read so far. However as I have not got CM7 running on my OMC it does not really matter as that one is rooted anyway.
