Overclock stock ROM?

Hi,

The Monte Carlo/Skate is my first Android phone; Went in to Orange shop to get a San Fransisco & came out with MC (mostly due to the 25% tarrif discount Orange offers to the employees of its many corporate customers).

Thanks to this site (brilliant by the way), I have rooted my MC & de-oranged my phone. I haven't plunged in to custom ROMs yet; mostly because I am unsure how they affect my warrenty.

Anyway, my question: Can you overclock the custom Orange ROM (rooted)? I have looked at some overclocking apps & all seem to offer only a set of fixed clock speeds, capped at 800MHz. I am guessing a custom ROM is required, but thought I would ask...

To overclock your Stock you'll need an overclocked Kernel. What is your OS version? 2.3.4 or 2.3.5?

P.S.: Flashing custom ROMs won't void your warranty, but the unlocking may void(varies from brands).

Thanks for info.

I have vers 2.3.4.

Is a Kernel separate to a ROM, or part of a custom ROM?

I think I'm not wrong but you can use the boot.img of the ROM BlueMonte, since it is 2.3.4 as well, to get its kernel.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
