It's been a while, rom advice needed

Hi All,

It's been a while and for one reason or another I have not updated the rom on my Vega since late December / early January this year. Having a quick look round the site I can see there are quite a few extra options for custom builds since I last updated.

I was wondering what everyone’s advice would be with where I proceed next. The last time I updated I had to download a custom build from the kitchen and if I remember rightly I had quite a hard time with it as my PC didn't want to cooperate. Ideally I would like something easier to update this time.

What would you recommend?

Dean.

The easiest would be ViewComb found over at XDA - there has been a lot of ill feeling towards the guy who posted it as it started out as a rip off of VegaComb but saying that it is installed via NVFlash so straight from the PC. I personally haven't tried it so can't comment any further than that.

Does it have a known bugs list ?

I'd stick with vegacomb as theres more support and it's more uptodate.

Use audi to install the right usb driver on the pc then install vegacomb downloading from here and follow this video for added insurance.

Then honeyice ontop if you feel upto it.

Thanks both for the info. I still admit it looks a little scary to update the rom, guess it must just be because I had such a ballache doing it last time with drivers and various other things. Plus I never quite understood the workings of clockworkmod etc. I wouldn't need any of that for this would I?

all you need from clockworkmod is the recovery console to install vegacomb, clear the cache etc which is described in that video.
