Spam in notification bar

I've just received a notification bar spam saying,

Has anyone by chance experienced this ? I haven't installed any bogus apps, wtf is going on :G

Most likely it is airpush. It's an ad network that some developers choose, and the ads are delivered in the form of notification spam.

There is an app called airpush detector, use it. Before you uninstall the culprit app, be sure to leave a bad rating.

Would Adblock not stop that? Or Ad-Away?

Hosts blocking is only effective when it's looking up a hostname. Most likely airpush connects directly via IP, or connects directly some other way (not querying DNS/hosts).

Adblock won't stop it. As above, you'll need an airpush detecting app and will need to uninstall the offending app.

I think you can give your IMEI to airpush and they won't give you notification ads (However whether you want to do this to a company that is so blatantly out of order is upto you).
