Guest Dukelord Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) Ok, so I just got a ZTE Skate recently. Comes with Android 2.3.4 by default. Was interested in upgrading to ZTE stock 2.3.5 (http://android.modac..._1#entry1847734 ) Someone advised that I do a backup first of default rom. I first installed clockwork recovery mod (http://android.modac...-the-zte-skate/) and then superboot (http://android.modac...-the-zte-skate/), discovered that my sound has stopped working after both installations. Cant hear keypad tones, music or call sound. How do I fix? Now I discovered that the 2.3.5 (http://android.modac...te-android-235/) is just an image.bin in an image folder. After reading around, I transferred the image folder with the image.bin to my sd card root. Shut down my phone, tried rebooting with the following combinations: volume up+power volume up+home volume down+power (Takes me to clockwork recovery mod boot) volume down+ home volume up+power+menu (left button) volume down+ power+ menu None of the combinations above allow for the installation of the 2.3.5 image.bin. Please someone help me. My phone is without sound now and practically useless. I need it back to default state (2.3.4) but I didn't make a backup of it with sound only a backup of it without sound. I try installing cyanogen mod and also tried installing bluemonte, installation was successful, but at bootup the screen showing cyanogen mod 7.1, just keeps looping continuos. Please help guys. Too many issues. :( Edited November 22, 2011 by Dukelord

Guest Chris_67 Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 Please, get your Stock-ROM here (trustworthy source) and follow the instructions from the same threat.
Guest Dukelord Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 Please, get your Stock-ROM here (trustworthy source) and follow the instructions from the same threat. I see that the only english version is for Orange Monte Carlo. If I download the ZTE Skate version of another language, can I change to English? Also easy tutorial on how to install properly. I dont want to brick my phone. Thanks
Guest Chris_67 Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) Most of the ROMs (i'd rather suppose all) can be switched to english. Please read (and try to understand) the thread mentioned above. This should guide you on your way to successfully flash your phone. You should not flash any device as long as you do not understand what you are doing. Edited November 22, 2011 by Chris_67
Guest xiaoyaoswim Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 Correct combination for TPT is volume up+menu+power, but the menu key is the middle one. Try to TPT an Orange official image.bin first to see if your sound are going to work. The one in http://android.modaco.com/topic/348649-zte-android-235/ might be fine, but I haven't tried.

Yeah but after extraction, it has no dest-10.ini and cefs.mbn. I dont wanna mess up my skate by having mac address problems and other problems.

On the contrary, you probably will get problems if you flash by FTM flasher. As Chris_67 said" You should not flash any device as long as you do not understand what you are doing."

Guest hecatae Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 Was this a sim free skate. Where did you purchase it from? Superboot is based on a monte carlo boot.img its possible it broke something, did you have sound before? You need to replace clockwork with stock recovery if you want to try the ftm flasher

Guest dibbles Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 If you have a look here.. http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/UK/ (fourth option) ...is there a reason why it might not be a good idea to use the official UK software update tool for the Monte Carlo...? Assuming you are in the UK...? It might help in your position..?
