What's the easiest way to backup moving from different gen ROMs(how does google backup work)?

I'm still on Gen 1 but was thinking about trying a newer ROM. But apparently you can't use nandroid back up when you jump from gen 1 to gen 2, so what is the easiest way to back everything up and get it going on your new rom?

And how does Google backup work. Will it save all of my settings in aps so they will run like usual if I use google to backup my apps?

Thanks in advance.

Google will redownload the apps, but I don't remember it restoring any data. I would use Titanium Backup to save your apps and data. Just don't restore system apps/data and you should be fine. SMS Backup+ is good for saving your text messages etc.

What do you mean with not restoring system apps/data? Is there no way of porting the data in my apps to a new ROM?

Oh, forgot to mention, I need a prog that backups MMS as well. Is there any progam that does that?

It restores my data settings and backlight

Sorry it 's late here, what do you mean? =)

That google backup restores your data in the apps and your backlight setting?

Or you can just do a nandroid and use appextractor afterwards.

(Or just do it manually).

backup.zip

HuaweiBackupV2.1.8

for sms backup,logs etc

2.with titanium you can restore ONLY the data from your system/apps

for example if you want your notes back and you have a backup with titanium you choose "restore only data"

I use myback root - I've found it quicker and more stable than titanium (free).

Just used that and it got halfway through the restore and crashed :( luckily I had also taken the data/apps and data/data folders manually too.
