Guest Colibri Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) I'm looking for a new Android phone, and the ones I am looking at for my price budget would be either the ZTE Blade or Skate (budget is €150~, I live in Ireland). Which do you think would be better for me? I'm looking for something that supports 2.3 and if possible in the future, 4.0. Flash player support would be handy (AFAIK, both phones support it?) along with a nice screen resolution/size and a good modding community, with more apps, etc. compatible for it. What do you guys think? Should I maybe wait for the Blade 2? I want something worth the (albeit little) money I am paying for it :) Edited November 23, 2011 by Colibri
Guest PedroVader Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 Skate all the way! Now the unlock is working, the Blade guys are starting to appear here on the Skate forums, and tilal is looking at ICS, the future looks good. I've had mine for 3 months now, and its far better made than the blade I had before, and its probably had more abuse, (given its size, I've dropped it more), there's no comparison IMHO.

I am getting very excited. Holy crap I want one of these phones :D
Guest PedroVader Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 Now's the right time, with orange giving away the gift box, I'm buying number 2 son a skate for Xmas, he's got a white blade atm, just so I can have the headphones ;-)
Guest D3abL3 Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) Blade 2? Forget about it... Blade or Skate? Skate wins easy... Blade comes with a 600Mhz CPU, Skate with a 800Mhz CPU. Blade comes with a 3.5"(?) screen, Skate with a 4.3" screen. Blade doesn't have Flash LED, Skate does. Both don't support flash from factory, but there is a workaround that works 100% in both. Bettween these 2 specific devices I would even still prefer the Skate, even knowing there will be a Blade 2(which will be a copy of Skate with a smaller screen )... Go for the Skate mate, you won't regret it. Edited November 23, 2011 by D3abL3

No relatives up north or in the UK and I can't afford to pay someone back as of yet if they're travelling up or living in the UK :) No hassle sure!
Guest dadashi Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 why dont you drive over the border or take a ferry or something...its not that far
Guest Colibri Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 why dont you drive over the border or take a ferry or something...its not that far After searching, I have two possible ways of bringing one over. Gotta wait though. WANT ONE NOW
Guest Atomix86 Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Definitely the Skate (OMC), it has that gorgeous screen and as has been mentioned, is a far better candidate for custom ICS roms than the Blade (OSF).

WANT ONE NOW Glad you have found possibilities! You will be happy with it. Tilal already has an ICS rom booting and single point touch screen working. He's not posted in the thread for a bit so he is either busy making progress or taking a needed break.
Guest WillDroid Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) My personal conundrum now is Skate or SF2? I like the idea of the SF2 having the front facing camera which may come into use if/when ICS is ported, however the big screen is so tempting now! I'm coming for an original OLED SF, will the Skate be a good improvement? Thanks Will PS Sorry about hijacking the thread a little there :D Edited November 24, 2011 by WillDroid

Not enough to win over the amazing screen on the skate.
Guest WillDroid Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Good point :) Better get my orders to the big man in red! ;) Will

Guest Colibri Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 I'm aware the Blade II is coming but to be honest, the Skate looks like a much better deal. Thanks guys :)

If you get something with a second generation snapdragon then its likely to last allot better.
