Guest TR_ON Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 howdy I put Ginger Stir Fry ROM on a while ago, and while it generally is good I have a major issue with the dialler being almost impossible to use with the screen changing to black most of the time once a call connects preventing you from using IVRs etc so... I was gonna put a new ROM on and thought I would double check which GEN phone I have I have Ginger Stir Fry is meant to convert your phone to GEN2, but Mr Pigfish says I have a GEN1 handset still Is it safe therefore to assume I am GEN1 still, even though Stir Fry should change it to GEN2 answers on a postcard to the usual address thanks tN :)
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 That sounds very suspicious to me - Ginger Stir Fry is Gen2 only so if it boots I can't see how you could be on Gen1. try PMing kalt_kaffe - he made Mr pigfish.
Guest KonstaT Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Actually the last few version of gsf supported both gen1 and gen2. You might very well be still gen1. I think that Mr. Pigfish never fails to know the difference between gen1/gen2.
Guest Amphoras Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 GSF only changes you to Gen 2 if you installed it via the TPT method. If you flashed it through Clockwork, it detects whether you are Gen 1 or 2 and installs the appropriate stuff. Never heard of Mr Pigfish lying before, and if he's wrong here, you must have a really weird phone :P.
Guest TR_ON Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) thanks guys... installed ROM with CWM, couldn't find the page I got the ROM from originally so couldn't find out if it left me as GEN1 think I fixed the issue... used ZTE Emode helper, as kept getting invalid MMI code etc when entering various codes to calibrate proximity sensor didn't realise you just long-pressed the codes within ZTE Emode helper to use them, and ran Sensor Test etc and issue seems to be fixed :) and I don't have a weird phone.. it's lovely!!! original OLED style in almost perfect condition still after a year, best phone ever had hopefully Ice Cream Sandwich will work on it one day, watched the demo video for it last night and looks absolutely amaaaaaazing! thanks again tN Edited November 24, 2011 by TR_ON
Guest hugobosslives Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 sounds like your gen1 then. cwm does not change gen
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Yeah, forget what I said, I didn't know GSF could install on Gen1
Guest targetbsp Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I love the fact that the thread title makes perfect sense and is a perfectly reasonable question whilst to an outsider of this community, it would look like you were nuts. :D
Guest t0mm13b Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Well, Mr. Pigfish does definitely read from a file in /proc so "Your honour, as defending Mr. PigFish, He hath cannot lie and therefore pleads not guilty, I ask you, beg you, to rethink and to hold off all judgement against Mr. Pigfish". But then the argument could be flawed if the kernel can lie or even worse, if somewhat the values in /proc can be attacked via some man in the middle trojan... ... :D
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 Pigfish never lies! Anyone who doubts will have their brain consumed. If you hear a "SPLOINK!" late at night... RUN!!!
