Guest Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 My Orange San Francisco is being replaced due to a fault. Rooted and running android 2.2. I have titanium backup. Does anyone know is it possible to do some form of backup (whether using titanium pro or any other app) say to an SD card so that I can restore an exact image of my old phone ie the op system, apps etc on the new phone and be up and running immediately. Or is that impossible? A bit like you can with restoring the operating system of a computer to a new hard drive? Or can you only restore the settings and messages etc? I also have clockwork set up on it but I believe that would only restore it to the original Orange settings, which I also need to do. Many thanks in advance.
Guest doogsville Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 You should be able to backup your rom, then copy it from the SD card to your computer, to be safe, and likewise back up the contents of your SD card, then root the new phone, install clockworkdmod and just restore the ROM and put the same SD card in the new phone. It doesn't really matter if your copying backups to the same device or another device as long as the device is identical. Can't think of an easy, one step solution though.
Guest quantam Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 http://www.wondershare.com/android-manager/ Use this PC Suite :) should do the trick AFAIK .
Guest Amphoras Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Boot into Clockwork and a make a backup. You can then restore that onto your new phone with Clockwork and it will be just like your current phone was at the point you made the backup.
Guest cmberry20 Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I had to do the same. My camera broke on my old SF. I made a full backup of the ROM using clockworkmod and took the SD card out. The next day, I got the new phone delivered from Orange, rooted it, installed CWM and restored my backup. No problems what so ever. Only shame was I got a TFT screen SF and my old one was OLED. The latter screen is soooo much better.
Guest Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) Fantastically helpful replies, thanks to everyone. All backed up. Yes sadly it was also an OLED and will now be TFT. Can't be helped. Wonder if it's worth selling the replacement and buying the new San Francisco 2? Seems a better camera, gingerbread and processor.....But still TFT. Edited November 24, 2011 by Guest
Guest Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) Ick! Knew this might not be too easy. I can't find the correct original 2.1 Orange Rom. Or at least I've used the one on this site, original shipping rom for oled, OUK_P729BV1.0.0B05 Renamed the zip file as Update zip. Booted into clockwork, deleted cache and data, then applied the zip. It took it not to the original rom as such but r4 modaco custom rom. So it's clearly revised the rom but it isn't the original orange bloatware rom. Help! Update: got there in the end. Phew!
