ICS talks

I see ZTE Blade people have compiled ICS (without audio/camera/jit). More info.

It's quire similar to us device - ARM v6, MSM7X27 (we are MSM7200A)...

- they used android device config from their CM7 tree

- used kernel v2.6.35, basically the same boot.img from CM7.

So one may try to do it for Pulse...

----------------

Also seems our 2.6.29 kernel should be alright for it as:

- ICS emulator uses it,

- Sony Xperia X10 ICS runs on 2.6.29

They did port it to the g1, so it is possible to be ported on our devices, but I don't see the point for now. I don't think the pulse would run faster with the ics.

Here u8160/u8180 people are in porting ICS with quite good results.

That devices are same as u8150 (which we inherited .32 kernel from) and u8110 (pulse-Mini) - based on MSM7225 chipset - with even no GPU (we have adreno 130; msm7227 have adreno 200), screen 320*240 (we have 480*320)

I can run u8150' stock froyo on pulse, so one may try his luck to use the above rom with our .32 kernel...

I would disagree - surely this is EXACTLY the point. All the fantastic work on the .32 kernel, now featuring multiple contributors but started by Pier11, is fascinating to follow and must be great fun to be part of (wish I had the time!) but what benefits does it actually bring that we didn't have before? I don't believe much of a performance boost is expected? We have CM7 already and although camera would be nice, and might be a deal-breaker for a few people, I can live without it. Multi-touch is unlikely ever to happen. But to be able to install ICS on a two-year old low-end handset would really be a hell of an achievement. I say go for it chaps!

This article and especially charts in it (we are the first column) display how advantageous our device is compared to msm7225 ones.

So if they do, why we can't?

I'd say we are 90% of what msm7227 devices are hardware wise :)

So Ideos X3 should be our gingerbread/ics friend :)

Code Aurora looks supports msm7227 devices in its ICS branch.

You guys should be able to get it quite easily. The u8150 has it and the u8220 is better than that.

Here is the link to XDA for U8150:

Maybe we get this working with pier11's 2.6.32 kernel. It would be interesting to test if ICS for the U8150 boots on our Pulse because pier11 got the U8150 stock froyo booting with his kernel.

Thanks, tilal6991, you sounds encouraging! :)

But the pulse is being revived. I mean .32 kernel, camera working on cm7.2...

Don't laugh at this piece of... plastic.

I won't laugh, my Blade is hardly modern anymore either. Shame you guys never go multitouch

Is known, cm9 does not have device tree for us. It looks like was dropped among other older devices. But that should not prevent us trying :)

Couple of tutorials show how simple it is to add a new device (having it's device-tree of course).

Blade people initially used their CM7 tree just fine (see the first post of this thread).

How to Compile ICS (Ubuntu)

[Tutorial] Compile ICS on Ubuntu

Look at the second half - how to add HTC Hero device.

dtox125? dr.flo? anybody? :) Who will first compile cm9 for Pulse? Who will make a historical record? Look at pool in thread header - most people want ics
