purchased a skate for my wife , makes my htc desire

i just purhcased a skate for wifey , and from what i seen so far its nearly everything my htc desire is at a fraction of the cost,, eek

it will come unlocked , so i might just put a custom rom on it , what do you chaps recoment for a fast easy rom for wifey ,

as she not very techy , she had japanese jelyfish on her old zte blade .

are there any rom thats good on battery life etc

i paid £139 unlocked , is that good ?

The thing is that rom needs swap partition,although it will run without it.

I would say bluemonte is more stable myself.

But then again,I would go with cm7 v3 for the extra customizations,maybe some pink theme chooser theme for the misses :D

I'd like CM7 but can't find it on their website.

Any idea where to get it ?

I've got a HTC Wildfire with CM7 on - just upgrading to the OMC

I guess CM7 is likely to be similar ?

And does everything work ?

When I put it on the wildfire I did have a few problems with the radio.

What about Atomic 2.3.5? I'll be selecting a ROM to load shortly when I buy my new MC. Why is this ROM not getting a mention? I thought it was stable and being the newest, I would therefore have assumed the slickest.

For a newbie, can someone please explain the differences between all these versions.

All the roms for omc are stable and ready for daily use.

Its down to user preference as to the rom choice.

If you want all the features go for cm7

Stock rom with some mods,bluemonte,

More vanilla,then go for atomic.

Cm7 gives you more features,such as downloading themes from market,status bar controls,and to many features to list.

Bluemonte is stock rom,but its been themed,rooted,and had various tweaks to improve performance.

Atomic is based on generic 2.3.5,its more vanilla,that means more stock android,not anything to do with icecream sandwich :lol:

Best thing is to try them all to see which rom suites you.

I guess I could live with low res video - if - CM7 for the OMC still has DSP Manager in it ?

And is it possible to use the google apps pack with it ? - if so how do you install it ?

Will the radio need updating ?

I had no GPS on the wildfire when I put CM7 in...

I didn't mean FM radio - 'radio' is similar to the ROM, but (I think) underlies it.

Afaik, the phone would still have a radio version even if it didn't have a FM tuner.

ie. the radio I installed on my HTC was Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10 - a much later build than the original radio, which thankfully got the GPS working.

It depends on what you need to do,is that the code for proximity sensor ?

CM7 comes with an app for proximity.

But for any other tests,you will need the stock zte dialer.

It has a seting in it, in app drawer called ZTE skate settings. To calibrate the proximity sensor. If thats what you need it for?
