Guest flyguy729 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) Hello guys, i am just wondering with this honeycomb version, did you guys implement the usb host kernel and its API that is needed for DSLR Controller app to work? I need this app badly for my video work on my canon DSLR. Have anyone tested the app? Can you please test it as i am about to get this tablet tomorrow. 1 more thing, will the DSLR controller app work on froyo too since it has usb host support. thanks in advance. Can anyone test for me please? I have not yet to buy the tablet but will soon. But i need to know if this works. Thanks.
Guest Graham Macleod Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 I'm sure people would love to help, but to do so they'll need: - Supported Canon EOS DSLR - The correct USB adapter, if applicable Rules out most, I fear.
Guest IanTurner Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 If it's that important then buy a tablet that's listed as working with it and I'd go for one that comes with Honeycomb installed to be on the safe side.
Guest sjrixon Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 give me a couple of days.. I have a vega with honeycomb and a canon 350d
Guest jevdroid Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) I'll check it out tonight (10D, 5D, 5DII) and a POV Mobii on vegacomb ice. Stay tuned! Edited December 6, 2011 by jevdroid

Yeah. I already guessed so. But i just thought at least the dev could have answered whether they included the API or not when porting honeycomb. hmm
Guest flyguy729 Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) give me a couple of days.. I have a vega with honeycomb and a canon 350d SURE! Waiting for ur news. Jevdroid> Thanks! Well. I am on a budget you see. Viewsonic 10S is only selling for 189USD here in Malaysia while all the listed tablets are 390USD and above. :(
Guest sjrixon Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 First time the tablet restarted.. 2nd it just won't find it.. Guess they didn't port the API you need :(
Guest sjrixon Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 http://dslrcontroller.com/devices.php My 350D isn't supported.. I'm no good to you..
Guest jevdroid Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) I just tested the "Remote Release" app as per the description of DSLR controller and it doesn't work on my Point of View running Vegacomb 3.2n9 hooked up to my 5DII. Thus I do not think DSLR controller will work with it either. Anyway are you a professional photog/ videog ? haha. You practically own 3 FF. Two, just 2. The 10D has an old and crappy APS-C sensor. I'm no professional but just a weekend-warrior. Have been one for some 35 years now and always kept the machines I was happy with when buying new stuff. So yeah, there's quite some gear (analog as well as digital) in the closet in my studio :-D. Most of it is collecting dust though. Edited December 8, 2011 by jevdroid
Guest falum Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 I have a canon 550d + magic lantern firmware + Vega on Honey ice 3.2.7 I have tried every version of dslr remote + every firmware back to corvus on vega and never had it working. Gutted every time.
Guest flyguy729 Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Well i guess dev didnt port the API to honeycomb. I sure hope they did with ICS. :( Thanks guys for testing and sharing. Appreciate it. (:
Guest Drizz Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) A little more research and I found this: http://forum.xda-dev...1202082&page=88 Scroll to post #879 (find on page search vega) Just wondering if it would work with the Advents default Android version? The developer might add support. So I'm in 2 minds if I should keep it or get a refund, will probably keep it as it's only a fiver. Edited December 29, 2011 by Drizz
Guest jevdroid Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 A little more research and I found this: http://forum.xda-dev...1202082&page=88 That is my post on XDA. Remarkable similar to my posts in this thread, isn't it? :D Anyway, the default OS on the vega afaik doesn't support USB host. Also, the app needs Android 2.3 or later and the vega never was delivered with any version > 2.2.
