Guest kenpuu Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 Hi! I Have a TFT ZTE Blade. Is there a posibility to change this display to an oled display? I'm just curious, but also it would improve the battery and the image cuality. Thanks!
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 Afaik, its not possible. Also parts would be expensive. Image quality is not necersarily better on an OLED screen. Yes, more contrast and vibrance, but TFT screens have sharper images (and often narrower viewing angles) I don't think battery life is *much* effected by screen type, but I'm not entirely sure.
Guest oxyg3n89 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) My blade battery lasts 2 days, which is TFT. Battery usage stats on CM7 latest nightly rom always show that Display eats 35-45 % or total 4-5 hours display time on.(the max was 6 total hours, moldovan rom) brightness always set to low. If someone compared their OLED blade battery stats running CM7 could be only small difference after all...? Edited December 4, 2011 by oxyg3n89
Guest Maxsas360 Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 My OLED eats 13% of battery on medium brightness. Its not worth paying 50£ for a thing that saves 10% of battery. But I do love OLED colours vibrance, but I live with a fear If my phone's display will need replacing then I would be doomed, because getting It is almost impossible.
Guest Picazsoo Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) I have an OLED OSF and my GF has TFT OSF. We get very similar battery life. I have to say that I can't really see an extreme difference in the screens. I kinda like the TFT one though - colours are more natural and lowering brightness doesn't give it the pink tint that I get on OLED. TFT also doesn't suffer from burn-in. You might think, that changing to black status bar will prevent it, but I can already see (very minor) burn-in from the on-screen keyboard. Also the viewing angles on her TFT are quite good - I wouldn't really care for good viewing angles on a phone - especially one with 3.5" screen - I usually use the phone facing the screen directly and can't think of a common scenario where I would view it from the side (-: Edited December 5, 2011 by Picazsoo

OLED's have very vivid colours and TFT's have faded colours compared to it. TFT is sharper due to it's technology, but If I had to choose between TFT and OLED I'd choose OLED. That burn in effect is low and I don't really see it and my phone is a year old.
Guest kenpuu Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 Thanks for your help. Anyway, I have seen both types información different models and always oled/amoled screens look better.
