Is my phone bricked? Stuck on green Android man

Hi, I had a look at the Common Problems Sticky above and I couldn't see it so forgive me if the answer (if there is one) is there and link to it please if you know where it is thanks.

I tried to flash my phone to Cyanogen and it did but I don't think it flashed correctly because the internet was really slow and the green Android at start up was always the large one and not the small one. Before I did that I flashed it from Gen 1 to Gen 2 and that seemed to be fine and then the flash seemed to be fine apart from the problems already mentioned.

So I tried to add Cyanogen 7 (the 2.3 Android version) and when I downloaded Z4root and pressed Temporary Root it showed that it was doing that but then just cut off and now when I try to turn on the phone it's just stuck on the green Android. I've tried taking the battery out then trying again and pressing Power and Volume Up when starting it but to no avail.

Is the phone beyond help? Thanks for any advice guys

have you tried pressing the volume down when turning on the phone, to boot into recovery?

Oh cool thanks for replying Arnar. I did that and now I have a list of options but I don't see Reboot Into Recovery, I just see Reboot System Now and then a few options underneath but I don't want to press anything until further advice please incase I go back to square one.

PS I just noticed at the bottom of that screen it says Clockwork Recovery v5.0.2.0 if that means anything?

You're already in recovery.

The big green android is there because of the Gen 1 to Gen 2 TPT, its meant to happen. Which version of CyanogenMod did you flash? Was it a nightly or stable or something else?

You shouldn't have tried to use Z4root. CM7 is already rooted, so doing that can only cause problems.

Try downloading the latest version of CM7 and flashing it from recovery and it should work ok. If it still sticks at the green android, go back into recovery and wipe cache and data then try again.

Hi Amphoras, thanks for replying, I used the latest full version of Cryanogen 7.1.0. I just pressed Wipe Date/Factory Reset and now it says Data Wipe Complete. The screen still has the same menu on it, what do I press now please? Sorry for the step by step questions, I just don't want to ruin the phone.

Thanks again guys for the advice

You should flash the rom again, first wipe data (as you did) and cache and choose install zip from sdcard. From there navigate to the cyanogenmod zip file you downloaded (if you downloaded through ROM manager it's in /clockworkmod/downloads/cyanogenmod or somethig like that). After that, just press reboot system in the first menu.

Once you're finished in recovery, press the back key until you get back to the screen with the "reboot system now" option on it and select that.

Hi, you both replied within a couple of minutes of each other so I just want to make sure; do I Reboot now and then Flash or do I Flash now then Reboot? When I downloaded the ZIP file I just made a new folder for it called Image, does that make a diffference?

Boot into clockworkmod, clear data and cache, flash the zip (doesn't matter where it is on the sd card) and then reboot system now.

Damn, I just rebooted after clearing Cache and Data and now when I press Volume Down and Power it just stays on the Green Android again. I also tried pressing Volume Up and Power On but still the same

Is there something I missed?

Thanks again for helping me out I appreciate it

hmm, clearing data and cache shouldn't do anything to the recovery...

Hi, I took the battery out and waited a few minutes then pressed Volume Down and Power on again and got back to the same Menu phew. I then pressed Update from Zip again and on the Menu it offers update.zip but it wasn't in the folder I put Cyanogen so I searched and then I seen the full length name of the file Cyanogen 7.1.0 etc. and it looks like it's back in action!

Can't thank yous two enough, thanks for your patience and help, I would say I owe you one but I doubt I'd ever be able to offer you advise heh :P

you said you have an image folder on your see card. if this was put there for flashing the for, after unzipping a tomorrow or similar, then delete the image. if not, it may reflash your partition if you hold the wrong buttons when starting up the phone

Hi Davidoff59, thanks for the advice but I have another problem now heh, when I locate the Image folder I can't get an option to Delete. I'm using File Manager and tried all the different buttons but can't see any edit functions?

when you press it and hold your finger on it for a second or so, you should get the option to copy, move, delete, etc.
