Acer Liquid Metal - blank screen

Hi,

I purchased the Acer LM a couple of weeks ago and replaced the original firmware with Gingerbread(OS_Acer_4.000.13.EMEA.GEN1_A23G_A). All was well for a couple of weeks but then I noticed that the top section of the screen (about 1 1/2 cm) was not refreshing intermittently - on sliding the screen that part stayed put. Along with this, when pressing the power button to unlock the screen, the touch sensitive buttons at the bottom would light up but the screen would not. On pressing the home key the phone would vibrate but the screen would not light up (as in the phone is running - just not the screen). After pressing the power button a few times the screen would come on. After about 1 week, pressing the power button many times no longer worked - the screen would not light up at all. I tried a hard reset, reloading the firmware etc. but no change. On loading Froyo (OS_Acer_1.100.49.EMEA.GEN1_A22F_A) the screen worked again - but after about 2 weeks on the older version it is starting to happen. I do not think I changed any settings or loaded any apps when it first started.

I cannot work out if it is hardware of software related as it is a bit like both but cannot find anything similar on the web. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to correct.

Perhaps the solution is to reset the phone completely to get rid of what ever is causing this - so all data, apps, settings, cache etc added since new are cleared and the phone is 100% reset. I have tried 1/ factory reset, 2/ booting to recovery mode, 3/ loading new firmware. Is there some other option that is even more thorough then these option.

flash last bin and if the problem is still appearing send it to acer for repairing

If it is working and then stopping working for no reason, I would return it to Acer for a replacement.

There are no tips anyone could give you about the problem cos it is not normal. Something must be wrong imo.

You could flash the latest release as one last try....
