Guest Pithead Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) Hi, Firstly, thanks to all developers and this website and contributers for getting me off the stock Orange and onto Swedish Spring. Today I switched from Gen1 to Gen2 and installed the new Cyanogen (stable) and everything went fine and it actually seems to have speeded my phone up quite a bit. I didn't install any optional Google stuff because I wanted to keep my phone fairly clean. I'm trying to install 'FreeCaddiePro.222.website.apk', it tries to install then says 'application not installed'. I have set my phone to allow installations of non-Market applications and it was able to install Ask Mr Pigfish. Can anyone help me with this please? Is there a non market program that can help with installing .APK files? Thanks in advance Pit EDIT - I've reinstalled the Cyanogen and this time included G-apps and now can install all .apk files. Maybe I will have to back up all my apps and reinstall Cyanogen without the G-apps and restore backed up apps? I basically don't want to be spied on by my apps. Edited December 7, 2011 by Pithead
Guest aaujt74 Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 Can you install it as a flashable zip in recovery like adding a theme?
Guest Roph Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 (edited) Some apps rely on stock google app functionality, I guess it's that. Like how you can't remove IE from windows, some programs rely on it. If you're hurting for internal storage space, use a tool like Link2SD. Here's my storage info: All linked apps appear to the OS as being "internal" meaning all widgets work, and you can link any app. Edited December 8, 2011 by Roph

I just followed the instructions without knowing how any of it works. Some apps rely on stock google app functionality, I guess it's that. Guest hugobosslives Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 yer +1 for link2sd means you can choose which apps stay on the proper internal storage and which go to sdcard partition. this is good as the phone memory is faster.
