Orange San Francisco 2/ZTE Crescent battery charging problem

Hello there.

New to Android phones.

I've purchased an unlocked and de-branded San Fran 2 and i'm having some severe problems charging the phone.

When plugged in it says 'charging' for about 5 seconds and then says plug charger in with a question mark in the battery status icon but doesn't charge up.

In 'Status' battery status flicks between 'unknown' and 'not charging'

Have i got a duff charger, duff battery or some kind of problem to do with the de-branding of the phone.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as at the moment i've got what seems like a good phone that's un-usable.

 Try a different USB cable.  Also try plugging the USB cable into a PC to charge.  The cable may be dodgy.
